This guy is selling "TPI dent removal" kits....

And take a nice look at that photo. I took that pic on top of my washing machine a few years back. After forcing some ball bearings through the runner tubes to repair them.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TUNED- ... 0221452167#ht_2499wt_1165

"Specially sized, custom made balls...." He's selling this "kit" of chrome balls on ebay for $52 (with shipping), when all you really need to do is spend $15 at Mcmaster Carr. These are standard SAE sized chrome steel balls. He's sold 95 of these "kits".

Here's a guy on thirdgen who bought the kit and used whatever crack smoking instructions the ebay guy added with it, and destroyed his runners. Based on what I'm seeing the guy's instructions are idiotic, and involve pounding several balls all the way through the curved runner, which is not the right way to do it, and will damage the runners:

http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/aft ... 425-f-bodies-inc-tpi.html

Ok I don't mind taking my free time to spread useful knowledge around, and I'm sure I'm not the first guy to try this, but geez I guess the idea of people making a profit off my free contributions, and not even doing it right, offends me. In the photo you can clearly see I ported out the end of the runner seperately from running the chrome balls through it, so the photo is misleading at best as he's using it to claim the balls did that. The chrome balls did remove the dents and the bolt clearances though. Some of the other info his his ad is pulled straight from my thread here 4 years ago on it, the rest he must have pulled from a fairy tale, because the rest of his numbers are 100% b.s.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-te ... -runners-is-possible.html

The pics don't work because I don't have that ftp site anymore.

Ah, still got em on my computer...

Eh WTF could I even do?

It's amazing his feedback is fine, I guess people just post good feedback before trying it out. But all of the people on thirdgen that used his kit damaged their runners.

in the world of marketing, that's called cherry picking your customer feedback.

I would put the bastard on notice.

Next time, copywrite your photos, so he can't vader them.

One might say they are made of steel.

Read the guys "FAQs" at the bottom. He is a mega-tool. And I'm interested in how these balls increase the flow of the runners 9%!!! What a loser.

It's not so much the specific %, but rather how he even claims it happens....

I especially like this line:

"The expansion ball in this kit is a fully swirl polished and then chromed (to prevent the runners from scratching, and is made of a Chrome-moly-steel alloy with a diameter tolerance of 0.000001”"

Uhh...they will scratch your runners (who cares), they aren't chromemoly, (that would cost 20x more), and the tolerance is .0002" (again, who cares, but why lie?). But his are 1 millionth of an inch. wow! They must be manufactured in space.

Doing this actually did increase the runner area by 7% when I measured it. That's nice, but nowhere close to the size of the aftermarket runners, and flow benefit? who knows.

Well, saved one dude
HlhnEast;
Thanks for posting this, BC. I was considering grabbing this kit for my runners until I scored some SLPs. If I ever do want to fix my OEM runners, I will go to Mcmaster's.
