Over a month ago my position at work had been "dissolved" and I was let go after almost nine years with the company. I was a little shocked and very disappointed to say the least. However, it didn't turn out too bad as I was offered a better position, with a better company, and for much better pay. The only draw back it that I have to leave Missouri and move to New York. I start in three weeks!

Where in New York?
I grew up in Queens Village, and am familiar with the whole state.

Curtis, your story sounds very familiar. I had worked for Westinghouse Electric from the time I was 18, until I was 30 years old with five years of that going to college. They had a huge layoff in 1992 and I got caught up in it because they said they were scrapping my position ( I was devastated.) To keep my job, they said I could move to South Carolina. To make a long story short - I moved away from friends and family to South Carolina; a state I had never been to or knew anything about. However, it turned out to be one of the best experiences in my life as far as new friends, lifestyle and career goes. It hurt me terribly on the financial side, but the experience was incredible and the friendships have been lasting. I hope you find your changes to be as good. Now I'm back in Maryland again trying to recover from actions that took place 18 years ago.

By the way, stop by on your way through!! Congratulations

Thanks everyone for the word of encouragement! I"ll be in upstate New York around the Syracuse area. I guess I'll have to figure out how to hook a snow plow on the front of a Corvette........

Well, you'll be sooooo close to Watkins Glen. When you finally do that track day, you'll be at one of the best tracks in the country.

Good Luck

There is a slight issue. I may have to get rid of the '95 as mentioned above, I do need a nice 4x4. Of course the '74 will go with me. I told the wife if it comes down to it, I would sell the kids before the '74. She of course didn't think it was funny.

I have a feeling Durango Boy will miss my '74 more than me!
