I am in the middle of putting in a new Racetronix Walbro fuel pump with one of their kits for the C4. Plug and play my ass.

My wiring original wiring harness has some toasted areas and even a spot that looks like it melted a bit on the lower plug in. I have a new harness in the kit but my question is the purple wire that goes to the fuel sensor.

I have a purple wire on the harness but the original wire is riveted to the sensor. If I could get the original purple wire our of the top plug and get the new wire out of the new top plug I could reuse the original purple wire. Or am I going to have to solder my new wire to the old one to get the ends to all work out?

That's a good question for the guru's.

Here is the original hooked to the sensor hope you can see it.

Marcus -

You shouldn't have to do anything with that wire. The wiring they gave you (two wires with plugs on each end) is an adapter from the stock harness to the new pump. I put a zip tie on it to keep it from unclipping.

Matt the wiring is not like yours at all. 90 must have been a change and they put a new harness in my kit. It all worked ok except for the issue with the purple fuel guage wire or sensor wire. You can see how I fixed it.

Marcus - glad you got it worked out. The pump itself is the same 85-91, but looks like the wiring harness might be slightly different 90+. Racetronix sells the kits as 90-96 and the wiring provided looks slightly different than what I got. I don't know why, but good info for anyone doing this in the future

I got it reinstalled but can't try it out until I get my other header on. Your pics were a big help but the wiring is not the same. RaceTronix sent no instructions but the only issue was the one wire. Thanks for the help. I am glad I switched them out after looking at the old pump.

I had the same problem Marcus. I cut it off at the rivet and made it work in the plug. Not the best way but it works great!

Thanks Jeff. I thought about trying that but had the stuff to splice it so went that way. We will see how it works when I fire it up......someday.

The harness has known issues... that's why they include a new harness end with every new pump. Mine still looks great.

I plan on getting a new pump... just don't know which one.

I run the pump out of a 90's Chevy truck. Works great

You need a new screen to match it, though. Other than that it's a direct replacement.

I was worried about that but it loaded for me in preview so I went ahead and posted it. This Racetronix bunch are baking my hams. They have no customer service or tech without going through the whole deal of joining their forum, which isn't easy. Then you can access the instructions that should have come with the products. Why? Just tell me what I want to know up front I paid for the damn parts. Pisses me off!

Nuts, too late at night to start a rant. I did it all wrong so will need to pull the unit again to make it right. Which won't be horrible since I did not button it all up because I was worried about something like this happening.

I tried to print the nice instuctions with pics out but it would only route thru a fax. I could fax the instructions to you if you want to pm me your fax #.

We need to add this to your thread to make it cover all the C4's.

Marcus - my fax is out of ink, it dries out since I don't use it. It might be your print settings so you might mess around with that. Otherwise, pm me your logon info and I'll make it work
