LOL..can't leave well enough alone? JK. Did you find any markings on the pistons? I would have the shop CC the heads, too. That will give you a better idea on compression, etc.

Looking forward to seeing the progress!

Honestly it looks the motor has been gone through before (recently mileage wise)...even though there was a lot of sludge on the OUTSIDE of the motor the inside was pretty damn clean and shows little wear.

And, yes I am going to ask them to CC the heads if possible. I know they are low compression "smog" heads but would like to see 9:1 or 9.5:1 CR but not sure if it will be possible w/o decking the block.

I measured the bore and it is still 4". On the heads the valves are 1.94 and 1.5.

The pistons are stamped "L2256 STD"....not sure if they are stock or replacements? They have 4 valve reliefs in them.

Half the fun of owning these cars is restore/mod/fix them. Wish I had a spare $5k and I would have a smile a mile wide.
