Yup - I agree. I'm planning on doing a trans rebuild in the future and this is a great resource. Thanks Pete for a very detailed process.

Not sure Steve, but I did not delete them from my photobucket account. I am hoping it is a website glitch.

I have a 700r4 in my 86 I think the trans is a 1988 works great but I wish it would stay in first gear longer before it shifts in to 2nd.

When drivin from a stop sign as a light throtle or on the Gas hard it shift around 2000 RPM's it will not let the motor Rev to get in to the sweet spot befor shifting you can feel the gear drop between 1 and 2nd.

If you put the shifter selector in to 1st and hold it there and let the car rev the car turns in to a tire smoking beast.

Thats good when you feel like beening stupid but not all the time.

What I looking for it just stay in 1st a bit longer when it in full auto let rev to 3500esh in first when your on it nto shiftying so eary.

Do I just change the governer if so what weights or springs should I go with.

Marv - B & M makes a governor calibration kit. The problem with the 700r4 is the gear ratio is too short for the 1st & 2nd gears IMHO. I did a lot of playing around with the weights and springs until I found something that worked with my setup. At partial throttle, I still shift out of 1st at around 8 or 9 mph and out of 2nd at around 16 or 17. WOT bumps it up a bit, I don't remember exactly since I haven't driven it in a while. If I want to hold the gear, I have the transgo 2+3 shift kit which acts like a manual valve body and I shift manually.

The website software doesn't accept the capital "IMG" tag from photobucket. You have to use lower case "img". I tested this by editing your first post in part 1 and the pictures come up. Either you, Pete, will have to correct this, or I will work on it when I get time.

I just ordered a new Governer from PATC it said it has a 5200 shift point.

It just a 1 for 1 swap type hop up.

The trans I have in the car not the stock trans thats a whole anouther Night Mare stoire.

The trans I have in it out of a 4X4 truck HD cases the cast TQ cover so I dont think it has a higher shift pont type Governer so lets give this a try first.

I dont want to pull the valve body why miss with it works good now and with my Luck with trans if works good leave it alone LOL.

Plus I dont want Hard shifts in a DD.

Is that for stock setups? You might not see much difference at all. It's probably a 5200 rpm WOT shift and that won't affect your 1 & 2 shift much, like I explained above.

Lets start here ans see what happens I know it has a shift kit in it now it very mellow and the 2500 stall.

Like I said it a nice set up just needs to hold 1st a little longer when your foot in it.

Not sure why, but I cannot open my trans build links.
Just to update, finally, after 4 years, the custom ratio trans will be installed. Waiting on the converter refresh, and if all goes well it will install this Saturday.
Shortly after that I will tweak the tune, and run it at the track to document the gain or loss.
