Good Morning CGs!

Back to work today after my little vacation. Didn't get to enjoy as much time off as I wanted, but it was still nice. Good to see my folks who came for the weekend. Got some projects taken care of.

Not much to report.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

HOWDYYYYYY!

I'm feeling the results of the past few days. It's a good thing though. I'm sore and tight from working the muscle groups that don't get the attention they need. Like I mentioned previously. We moved a hundred plants. 50 were ours that we purchased for the nursery and 50 went to a client of ours 5 acre property. I have to clean out the weeds and wire up about 12 of them today, then I can get back on my other stuff. I found I can't sit and do nothing. I prefer to be active and it's much healthier for you anyway. Any work I do for the company comes back to us as labor we don't have to pay others for, so it's a win/win. The company prfits, I stay active and realiize there is no such thing as retirement for me as this stage of the game. Guess that'll come later in life. Besides, if you want to retire, you don't go buy another house. When this one is paid for will be right around the time that sitting on my ass will be in order. The good thing is I don't have to punch a clock. The bad thing is I am very much goal oriented. That means ....... I work a lot.

Howdy! The forecast for this past weekend was 70's, maybe even close to 80. It got up to 50 on Saturday, and finally got up to maybe 65 yesterday when the clouds finally parted. Oh well, got a fair amount done around the yard, but contributed nothing to my tan. They said it's going to rain today, so I drove the Vette.

Have a good day, yawlz!

What is dragon fruit? It's an exotic fruit that has grown in popularity in this country. South Florida's tropical climate is great for growing it and has wide appeal. Hopefully we'll move these pretty fast but in any case they will fruit while we own them. We'll keep a few for ouselves, I'm sure.

Those look pretty cool, Tommy - glad you posted that, I was going to ask about them the other day. Doesn't appear they'd like the frozen tundra much ;-)

Friday it was 65.

Saturday it snowed sideways all day, sucked.

Made it to 50 yesterday.

60 today, 70 tomorrow.

Gooood morning Guru Nation.....90's yesterday 80's today...what spring, we just moved right into summer.

So can you eat that fruit Tommy? Do you have Mango trees and fruit where you live....I love a good Mango.

Back at it after a busy weekend. Finally ordered an iPad from Apple. Good price and 1 to 2 weeks delivery. Note to self.....buy some Apple stock this week.....

Put some good miles on the C5 this weekend. The Active Handling kept knocking out the cruise control yesterday in the wind but after reserching it I think I know what to do. The brake peddle is very sensitive for the cruise control so I need to adjust that a bit.

Gotta go....and let's all be carefull out there today....

Guess I'll have to do some work today.

New carpet's coming on Wednesday. So, I'll have to remove everything. Pull 4 sliding closet doors, cleanout the closet. I'll probably find a bunch of Corvette and Race catalogs that I've been looking for.

Then Thursday I can clean out the guest bedroom and start on the hardwood floor install. Except i'm one box of flooring short and they discontinued the flooring that I have. So, I get to run around looking for one box of flooring that is "close".

Planted a couple of mango trees in my yard as well as avocado, cherry, jack fruit, lychee, guava, gooseberry, peach, apple, plum, tangerine, and a couple of other citrus. and others yet to come. Many are small and will take a couple of years to gain some height and girth, but they'll get there. Remember that we live in the tropics so lots of you guys don't hear some of what we grow because it will only grow in zone 9/10. I have to take a round of pics soon to show some plant nursery and yard pics. Business is strong and my wife is booked through the end of the month. Sales have been decent too. Sales provide the base and installation is the bread and butter of the operation. Later, when my wife decides to slow down we'll concentrate more on the nursery end of the business and drift away from the labor intensive installation end.

I have a quick story to tell. I have a friend of mine that wanted to retire and his wife didn't want him to. His wife and he had the same level job and the same benefit structure. They each made 50K plus a year. (he makes about 33k now that he's retired) They have a couple of older girls. Don't know if they were carrying a mortgage or not but they lived in the house for a long time. 25+ years. He said screw it and put in his paperwork. He had about 34 years in. He didn't tell anybody. He quietly processed the paperwork and when the final day came told his friends/coworkers ... then his family. His wife hit the roof. Threw his ass out of the house. Last I heard he'd been out over 6 months. Looks like he could be a winner all around. Got the payday and is free from the old ball and chain to boot. This guys wife makes my wife look like an amateur when it comes to maintaining a relationship. He's a nice easy going guy and she is very demanding. (sounds familiar) What's interesting here is he told her what he planned on doing. She told him no. He did it anyway. Now he has to suffer the consequences. Or the bonuses. Guess it's all how you view it.

Interesting back yard Tommy. My Buddies dad used to keep his 30ft Bristol on one of the intercoastals near Lauderdale. We drove there as Teenagers(every winter 18 through 22yo) to party and stay for nothing of course, and one of the highlights of the trip for me was hopping of the boat every morning and grabbing a fresh orange or grapefruit the owner had in his yard. Lemonade was a favorite too. Its amazing how much fruit a mature citrus tree puts out. Hans and Helga...what a beautiful property with all of those producing trees!
Well, off to see the Doc at Hosp. of the Univ. of pennsylvania today. We pushed my appointment up because I've had a few more side effects from the Revlimid than I care to bother you guys with. Needless to say, I've had enoungh! and I'm going to discuss not taking it anymore. I was recovering from the stemcell transplant pretty well and then they decided to give me this crap as a maintainance drug. Told me there is a 40% chance that it will lengthen my plateau(temporary remission in multiple myeloma). Gotta reweigh the odds and look into my wifes eyes for some help but I know where that will go. Throw me a positive thought once today if you can. Thanks. Alan

Positive thought generation is in effect. Got a call this morning from the wife. (How unusual (sarcasm) )
She was moving a mobile carport the guys use for shade while potting plants. It moves so the dump truck can deliver soil, then we put it back in the work area. It appears that one of the wheels had rusted through and the tire wouldn't hold any pressure. The hub and lugnuts were frozen.. Ring ...... Ring ...... Ring. I need your help at the nursery.
I got everything off and she has a repacement ready now. I'm off to install it. Whoo Hoo! Another day in the life. The positive thing is it will be fixed and shouldn't break for another 12 years.

Interesting, just heard a blurb about this on the radio:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/artic ... -went-trial-cover-up.html

I remember the night of the Bronco chase - we went over to some friends' to play cards that night, and wound up watching the whole thing unfold on TV. About the same time the next year, we were back over there, and the gal made a cake with a little white Bronco on it - LMAO!

The crap you find,

I was cleaning out the double closet getting ready for the carpet guys.

In the back corner I found a 4 foot stack of magazines.

National Kart News from when I was running for championships.

A big stack of home improvement mags, This Old House, etc. which promptly went in the garbage, I don't need no more house projects.

A bunch of old Playboys, maybe should keep those?

I'll be glad when this is done and the guest bedroom flooring is in so I can go back to DNBFS.

New neighbors moved in next door. They bought the house on a short sale. They did pretty good on the price. Similar to our pricing when we bought. Met the wife today. Husband is working. He's a Coast Guardsman and she's a teacher. We have a pretty nice community here. Most of us have pets, fruit trees, boats and stuff. A friendly lot. Not too friendly, just the right amount of friendly. We do have get togethers and we all watch out for each other. If anyone needs a hand everyone is willing to help their neighbor. One gives us homemade cookies, cupcakes, ice cream and other creations. I like it here. My wife likes it here. She's just not too happy about being in debt again. Oh well! Everything comes at a price (and lots of hard work).

I've seen articles about her before.
