Good morning all. Busy day today. Need to fix the roof. I had a few shingles blow off over the last week with the high winds we have had.

Have a guru day.

Good Morning CGs!

Should be a nice day today, 80-something degrees, a 20% chance of showers after 1pm. I think I'll take the vette today, got almost all of the excess rock moved off the driveway so I can back out now. Concrete was finished up yesterday, I'll get a pic later.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Howdy! Back to reality today - it was a beautiful day yesterday on the golf course, had a good time despite a lot of lousy shouts. We picked a good day to play hooky since it is supposed to rain for a couple of days now. Bet you're glad to have that concrete job behind you, Matt!

Poor Junior Seau's mother - man, it's heart-wrenching to hear that clip of her from yesterday.

Have a good day, everybody!

Lots of thunderstorms running around the area last night...I stayed up late tracking them. Most of the rain hail and wind damage is south of us.

My lower back is not any better today so may have to take another trip to the chiropracter.....more like the left hip...can't do much but sit and Guru.....

Looking forward to the pics Matt and I am glad you get to take your car today. More rain and cloudy here today.

I did work on the C5's running light that kept working on and off and think I got it to work ok now. The fixtures that you plug the bulb into are about half melted away from the heat of the bulbs......someday I will replace the whole unit up front.

Have a safe day Guru's.....

Sonofabitch! Went out and started the 91 to warm it up for the wife. She WAS gonna take it to a doctors appointment. Hear an odd noise coming from under the hood, look at my DIC and the battery light is on. Look at the charging system and it's not charging.

Wifey: Am I taking that car?

Me: Ah .... No!

Wifey: shake head

Me:

Could always be worse ...... Still sucks though.

Rebuilt alternator is maybe a couple of years old and lucky if it has 3000 miles on it. They had to use my old pully and face because it was different than stock due to the reverse mounting with the supercharger. I'm going to bring it to my starter/alternator shop instead of trying to get a replacemet. Let him fix what needs to be fixed and fix it right the first time. Another day in the life.

Nuts...I forgot to ask....Uboys pickup...Lil Red..has no air conditioning. The compressor has been making noise for awhile and now no cool air. It's a high dollar fix down at the repair store.....

What needs replaced? I know the compressor but what other parts. The wrench says there is metal all thru the system when the compressor failed....I am thinking I could buy the parts and get it all bolted up and then have them put in the juice and test it...it would be a good father son thing.

99 Chevy shortbox 5.3 engine......Guru help appreciated...

There is some great info on YouTube regarding A/C replacemet and parts. I had to watch a few tutorials and I ended up bringing it to the shop anyway. System evacuation, vaccuuming, oil charge and compressor and drier I think are the key components. Ya, A/C systems are not cheap repairs. I'll see if I can dig up what I watched.

If there is metal 'dust' in the system the the rec/drier or accumulator and the orifice tube or expansion valve should be replaced AFTER a system flush with nitrogen.

Morning fellas,
Great weather here the last few days....mid 80's and sunny. I'll spend tomorrow getting the C5 ready for an "All Corvette Show" in Knoxville this Sunday, hosted by the East Tennessee Corvette Club.

Marcus, take care of that back. I cringe when I hear anyone speak of lower back/left hip pain. That's how I started, and then ended up in surgery. I don't want that for you.......the past 14 months have not been fun.

Everyone have a great day, and keep it in the road!

Peace

Brad suggested a book to me on back pain and I bought it. I didn't read it but I have it.

Har - great pic, Marcus!

Tommy, while lightening your wallet a little may provide some temporary back relief, actually reading the book might yield better results ;-)

Rain rain go away....Its pouring here. We actually lost power for 2 hours. Fortunately the battery backup on the sump pumps held out. Otherwise it would have been EVERYONE INTO THEPOOL....entrance, cellar door.

Toe touches are easy----sit in a chair----put your right foot up on your left knee. You hardly have to move at all to touch your toes.

Two rows of flooring left, the pain in the ass rows. You can't use the air stapler, even the drill hits the wall at the angle needed to get thru the tongues.
Good thing I have a right angle attachment. I'll be really glad when this is ova.

hello gurus. marcus on your a/c job. replace the compressor with clutch and replace the exspansion valve and receiver drier. before you put it all together you need to flush the evaporator and condensor along with the lines also. they make flush kits to do all this. then evacuate the system and recharge with correct amount of freon. also you will have to dump a/c oil in the lines before you put it together. the compressor should have a note with it stateing how much to put in. add about another 4 oz of oil for the drier and condensor.

Good luck with the AC Marcus. Looking forward to seeing the finished floor Bill.

This is what I fixed today. Had good weather temps in the mid to high 80's with wind gusts up to 30mph.

That's redneck engineering on how to pull a slightly bowed board together.

Yea, I musta been drinkin'.
I got a tad in a hurry.....as bad as "measure twice, cut once, The last pice of underlayment I put down went over the heater vent(where that drill is laying................
and then I nailed flooring over it.

Not a big deal, I can cut it out without removing the flooring but being a manly man, I said "That looks like something that should be worked on............tomorrow.

Evening guys...I started a post earlier today, got sidetracked then lost it in cyberspace....sh!t. I'm pretty sure I had all the answers to the problems in that one and now can't remember what it all included.

It was a warm day here, but one of those beautiful evenings you hate to end. Had two of the GS's helping me stain those cabinets tonight. Garage door open, oldies blasting no wind, moderating temps. Looks like I'll get those sprayed this weekend.

I got my new headlights, Marcus, from the guy in brown. I would really like to get those put in this weekend too, but I think that is too much to ask.

A little more than a week away from the surgery. I'm looking forward to it.

You know you need the surgery when you say "I'm looking forward to it". Your gonna be a busy beaver for the next week I guess. After that .... just keep pressing the button to get the maximunm distribution of of pain meds. It's a preset dose. The button just makes you feel better. Don'tknow if you're gonna have that. Maybe you'll just do outpatient surgery and stroll home .......

I said maybe ...........
