My weather week ahead ...... Mostly hot with an increasing chance of heat. Look for less heat in the evenings and mornings.

My house feels like it's warm at 79/80 and my A/C runs hard to maintain it. When I want to gripe about the A/C efficiency I take a stroll outside. The humdity and heat engulf me. After a few short minutes I head back in and the house feels great. I don't know how people live without A/C in the tropics but they do. They open the windows and turn on the fans. I didn't have A/C till I was in my 20's. I remember in my teens, lying in bed on a hot summers night trying to fall to sleep with a fan in the window blowing away. All I could think about was how hot and uncomfortable I was. In Florida I treat the summer heat like a Yankee treats the winter cold. I try to seek shelter indoors. I'm not a big summer lover. I'm counting down my days to November. Right now that seems so far away. One thing I always remember. It's summer and it's hot everywhere, except for Reno NV. and San Pedro Ca. There the temperatures are always perfect.

We are only looking at a crisp 100+ today. Humdity is the killer .

Howdy! Cooling down here today - we had a pretty good storm overnight, thunder woke me up a couple times. The thing I hate about summer is that the garbage stinks to high heaven.

Enjoy your day, Gurus!

I remember that too, in Pa. I didn't like it.

I remember taking a shower, toweling off and still feeling wet.

No the weather here isn't "always perfect"

However, I haven't turned on the cooler yet (it only runs from 4 p.m. to 7 on really hot days anyway).
had to shut the windows at 3 a.m. cause it was too cool.

But this week is gonna be "Close to perfect" (no a/c required).

I ain't whinin', I put the extension ladder away yesterday. I have the trim on one garage door to do this morning and I'm done.

Then, I'm backing off on "stupid house projects" for at least 2 weeks, going back to my roots - DNBFS.

Morning guys...talking about weather, we are supposed to be pretty cool, in the 80's the several days.

Bill, good to hear that you have that high trim done. Brad, that's one of the reasons why I love living where we do, we have big dumpsters in the alley and we don't deal with that issue. That is a cool iPod player, who makes it? Marcus, how did the second car show go?

I have PT in about an hour. I did get out on bike ride for the first time yesterday. Today I am going to ride it to therapy.

I like that iPod player also
and Tommy brought back some childhood memories... We used to have a huge window fan in the bedroom right next to my bed. Used to be soooo hot, small window unit in the other end of the house but not in the bedrooms. Remember one night I was about 6 and just almost asleep and that sucker fell out of the window and made a God awful racket, scaring me to death. I think I slept with my mamma a whole year after that. Had one of those old rounded tubular iron beds, feather pillows that were hot and went flat... We didn't even have air conditioning in our high school. You should see their new school now....
Hope everyone has a great Monday...

Marcus, mine drips back under the car some place. I don't think it has anything to do with the udders....then again, maybe it does. I don't know for sure.

Got back from PT, those gals work my butt over. But that is what I need and I like it when they work me. I made it to 130 degrees. They told me that many knee replacement patients only get to 130 after a year or more. As I was finishing up, a guy who had had his done a year and a half ago came in to have his motion checked.... 135 is where he was and he was tickled pink with that and said that his doctor would be happy as well. After therapy I felt so good that I took a bit of a detour and rode the bike about 20 extra minutes.

Done painting the house trim...

Of course, there's the caulking I noticed, do I have enough caulk left in the shop...of course not.

And I noticed that the Bondo on the garage door is cracked (don't ask).

Very....
It starts getting hot and humid quick here, and if you aren't melted and drained enough by the end of the day, band practice outside for two hours after would surely do it.

I sat by a guy at a wedding on Sat. who goes to our church. He knows I am into Corvettes and told me he was interested in buying a C4 from a local dealer. They wanted 7900 dollars for a 91 roadster with a 6 speed. It has 111K on it. He was going to take it to his wrench and see what he said.

I told him it should be in good condition for what they were asking......especially with 111K on it.

I stopped by and looked at it today and its a mess. Interior is completly worn out and the ECU is held on with duct tape......the Vert top hatch is ill fitting and the guages don't all work and I'm sure the Bose is fried....

I am going to tell him to move on fast and not look back. It would be a great $3 or 4K car if you were going to make a race car out of it. For a driver you will dump a ton of bucks into it. Nobody needs that kind of headaches.

I've been informed that the garbage disposal stinks. I need to examine the marriage contract - somehow, the responsibility of cleaning out whatever slimy yuk lurks in there has always been my problem to solve.

Fill it full of ice cubes and run it.

We drop a lemon down there and run it for a minute or so until the lemon is chopped up (with water on) - cures that problem.

Took the kids in the pool this evening. Water wasn't too cold, but not too hot, either. It was comfortable for me. So at bedtime RR #1 says to me that she doesn't want to swim in the big pool anymore, only go to water parks and the beach because it's warmer there. I told her that the beach water was colder than the pool, but she said that was ok because the sand was hot. Damn kid is too smart.

Yep, done that.
A big squirt of dish liquid on the ice helps too.

Or you can remove the slime by hand.

I'll have to remember those for a quickie fix. I think the primordial ooze caked on the underside of the splash guard needed a good scrubbing, though, in order to banish it entirely. It was just as delightful as I imagined.

I would opt for some scented bleach also. Check your dishwasher discharge line and make sure it's hung high. If the line is not properly installed the water from the garbage disposal can flow back into it and raise a stink.
