new spring has arrived. Looks REAL good. The only thing is some surface rust on the metal ends. I sanded and shot them with a coat of paint to protect it a touch.

Battery was dead, so I had to charge it before pulling out... so the hard part has been delayed until tomorrow night.

spring is on! all fixed!

The final damage:

1 spring
2 brackets
4 bolts
1 bushing
1 washer
1 spring bolt is bent
1 muffler knocked off, no damage done.

I cannot image the energy released when that spring went!!

Question:

How much should I worry about a bent spring bolt? the big long one is bent about 4* and I am worried it could break.

Why risk it? You know the metal has been compromised / fatigued if it was bent.

I came to a basic conclusion... that damned little washer held up for at least 4 to 5 days before giving up... I think a bent bolt will last at least that long...

mass is on my side here!

Monday is d-day.
