1972 LS5 454 4spd. Ontario Orange with black interior. 80,000 miles.

I have always liked chrome bumpers. Really blessed to have been able to buy this one. Really clean and nice looking car.

It's not stock.... been modified with a cam, Torker intake and Holley 600DP.... not sure WTF they were thinking putting a 600 on a 454 but I am looking replacing that crap intake and carb with an LS6 repro intake and 750DP.

Got to fix the driver side rear brake caliper first... I didn't notice it leaking Sunday when I looked at the car but its leaking now. Always something.

Very nice, Will.

Those calipers are notorious for leaking when the sit.

Are you keeping the other C3?

Thanks.

Yea I know about the calipers. Had to put seals in them on the 79 after we bought it as well.

Have no space in the garage to keep the 79... but its going to a good home and staying in the family.

Dad's buying the green 79 for my mom's birthday. Hes been dying to restomod the white 76 I gave him a few yrs ago but I kept saying because its totally stock orginal car that it's a bad idea.... lol... I know seems crazy me not wanting to mod a car... anyways the 79 already has a replacement engine so he can do what ever he wants to it.

That car is ugly as shit and not stock to boot. Chrome bumpers attract rust. You should get rid of it as soon as you can. I will buy it from you for what you have into it as a friendly gesture. ;)

That's a very gracious offer Tommy - but I think I'm going to have to muddle thru life with it now.

Elsie absolutely fell in love as soon as she saw that pumpkin in the sun light... Good thing I got it home before midnight!

You know I'm always looking at these cars and mid-years to see where they are money wise.

There are so many iconic C3 Corvette colors but.... War Bonnet Yellow and Riverside Gold were honestly on the top of my want list (probably everybody's)..... Ontario Orange and Cortez Silver were a strong second.

I'm going to tell you - I don't think I have ever seen a better time to have a little discretionary income.... Now is a darn good time to buy one.

Pretty awesome that this car worked out like it did..... It's a story I'll have to tell you guys sometime.

I told Elsie that later this year we are going to load it up and take it on a road trip. I definitely want to have some fun with this car.

Just got (2) stainless sleeved o-ring rear calipers from Vette Brakes and Products. I should have it fixed this week.

Man trying to get a Collector car (agreed value) insurance policy from Geico has been a real PITA... I applied the day I brought the 72 home, Geico didn't call me until Thursday about it and halfway thru was having computer problems.... then they never called back..... must have been a big hurry for them to get off to the weekend.

I got to manage a few other projects this week too.... Hope to find time to finish the engine in the race car and I am helping a friend get the ignition wiring on his 1960 Lincoln sorted out as well....

I'll take some more pics when I fix the brakes.

How nice... I fixed the caliper.

Take the car for a drive and decided to fill it up with gas..... 1/4mile out of the station car dies.... won't restart.

Tow it home and start checking stuff out. Drain the carb before taking it off and the Gas is full of water. Pump 1/2 gallon into a clear container and its 1/2 water.

SUCKS! It was pretty low on gauge and took 13 gallons to fill it up.

Pumped half a gallon into this plastic container and let it sit overnight in the garage....

Resized Image

I have a friend with a low pressure electric pump and we are going to try and pump the tank out this evening.

Hoping I can get all in cans then try and siphon the gas off the water so I can re-use it....

This is NOT how I hoped to start my new purchase off.

Yikes.......I wouldn't mess with that gas unless it was for a lawn mower or something like that.......was the gas bad or was there water in the tank?

It would have to be bad gas....

I have had the car a week... it's been run and driven (around the hood) about every night except this weekend... not too far mind you with the rear caliper leaking but just so the wife can get use to driving a 4spd.... Also it's been kept inside the garage and no problems what so ever.

Last night after I installed the new caliper, we drove it 3 miles to the gas station and again it ran great... we were just going for a short ride but the gauge was down to like 1/8th tank and (since I don't know how accurate it reads) I thought better safe than sorry......

After I filled it up, I pulled it out of the station and started driving up the road.... engine started bogging out and dying not even a 1/4 mile away.

Since water is heavier than gas - If the car had water in the tank to start with, the car would never have made it to the gas station IMO.

Plus on Sunday there was a huge rain storm that flat drenched us....

And yes... I hope to save this gas for lawn mower duty but if it seems like bunch of work to get it separated - I'll just feed weeds with it.

The alcohol in the newer gas EATS the old Corvette gas tanks!

I know of a restoration shop that buys gas by the 50gal drum because of it.

This gas is junk. So far evacuated 2 full 6 gallon cans and its all been half water. Working on can 3 now... almost to the bottom.

Carb is back together and on the intake.

Oh and the gas tank looks brand new inside.

Car is back running fine.

Took 3 hrs to extract 15 gallons with a little Mr. Gasket electric pump running off a jumper box.

I mixed 2 gallons C16 from the race car and 6 gallons pump gas for it. Primed the farb with C16.... fired right off.

Now on to the important things.

I talked with the stations manager yesterday and I also called WAWA corporate to let them know.... they both said that they would look in to it but had received no other complaints.

Here's the kicker it was the Monday just after 4th of July weekend (so they sold a shit load of gas) and it rained like a monsoon on Sunday. the in ground tanks were probably low and I just picked the worst possible time to fill up it up......

Of course they will just wait until they get a fresh fill up - test the gas then and say they found nothing wrong.....

It is what it is. I'm out $41 and 2 evenings of work to fix the car. I just won't go there for gas ever again.

Made a short video of it running.

Http://s50.photobucket.com/user/rkles ... 7080_zpspkb1xwxf.mp4.html

Yes it's a good reprenesation of how loud it is and those are the factory GM mufflers and factory GM crush bent pipes all 2.5" except the muffler exits which neck down to 2". Sounds great to me and I'm not sure if I'd care to have it any louder. Really quiet in the car and riding down the road.
