[1985, A4, very stock] I'm thinking of replacing the ignition module on my 1985. I believe it is original and thus subject to multiple service bulletins, which I believ may be the cause of my remaining driveability issues. Is there any return to going to one of the aftermarket ignition modules such as MSD or Accel or am I fine with the stock part on my stock engine? |

My opinion is stay stock. I've heard of guys running through multiple aftermarket ICMs. Maybe they don't mate well with the stock system. Use heat sink paste when installing (not dielectric grease).

I agree 100% with Mat. Stock ignition system is more than any stock engine will ever need.

A follow-up question: is there anything else I should replace while I'm in there? |
