COOL AND OVERCAST IN THE NATIONS THIS MORNING, THE RAIN DIDN'T AMOUNT TO A FART IN A GALE OF WIND, JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE THINGS MESSY. THE CHEROKEES ARE DISAPPOINTED, WE COULD USE A GOOD RAIN.

TIME TO TAKE THE TOMATO IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE, THEN BACK TO THE BARN PURGE. I'M ALMOST FINISHED WITH THAT.

BEEN LOOKING AT SOMETHING CALLED KWIKLIFT; ANYBODY HAVE ONE OR ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THEM?

Morning guys...#3 and family got here about 12:15am Took about a half hour to get settled. They brought the dog with them, had to accommodate that issue.

It's clear and cool out there, but supposed to warm up some.

I am going out to cut some things on the router today, besides being a host. Proves to be an interesting day.

Hidey-ho! Looks like I'll have a little shoveling to do - we got some slushy snow out there. Free fertilizer. Meanwhile, later we will begin prep for tomorrow's festivities.

They don't make inauguration speeches like that anymore.

Have a good day, Gurus!

The guys on another forum talk about them, Gris. And from what I can tell they are pretty neat if you want to be able to get under the car. They only lift it off the floor about 18 or 20 inches, IIRC.

I have a regular 4 post lift. It wasn't much more (if any) and raises the car to a point where I can walk under it. Well, if your ceilings are high enough, mine are 10'3".

These are pictures back when I first got it installed. Still had the C4 at that time.

Yea, a lot of guys like them, but, I wouldn't buy one for $1,400 when you can get a 4 post for a few dollars more.

http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/o ... 317-kwiklift-reviews.html

You can get a basic BackYard Buddy for $1,500 on ebay but that doesn't include a bridge.

Rainy here all night last night and on into today. Supposed to be really nice tomorrow. Things sure do sound different in the new house. Matt - from yesterday - we stayed our first night in the house the night of closing Friday. It's actually starting to look like people live there instead of it being used to store boxes.
Trying to have a slow day at work processing photos for the coffee store next door's website. Might drag that out all day to avoid other chores. Ya'll get your ovens warmed up, start those turkey day dinners...

You still have time to make this, but do not do it unless you like stuff that is sweet, tangy, fluffy and delicious:

4 red apples
1 lb. fresh cranberries
1 cup sugar
2 7oz. jars marshmallow creme
2 8oz. Cool Whip

Core the apples and chop them fine in a food processor, put in mixing bowl
Chop cranberries fine in food processor, add to mixing bowl
Stir in sugar
Stir in marshmallow creme
Cover and let sit overnight in refrigerator
Shortly before serving, drain excess liquid from mixture, and stir in Cool Whip until evenly distributed

PS - make sure not to lick the marshmallow and Cool Whip spoons until you're done mixing.

You can bolt it to the concrete but, the guys I know don't.

In fact, there's a wheel kit that allows you to move the lift, like out on the driveway to wash down the underside of a car.

We have 2 four-post storage lifts, both from Greg Smith Equipment. They actually tell you not to bolt the lifts—they're mass bonded. If the lifts do move too much, you can move them back on wheel kits, which the Greg Smith folks provide at no extra charge. Mine have moved all of a quarter of inch in seven years.

I had dibs on the lift from out at the body shop since he's retiring, but it's a foot taller than our ceiling. Need to find him something suitable.
The house is beginning to feel like home, we've been discussing things we'd like to change

With a 4 post lift and a hoist frame from Harbor Freight, you can do almost anything.

I have a quicklift. I like it pretty well. any specific questions? I'll try to send a PM. if you don't get it, send one to me. I'm probably better at answering questions over the phone than typing it out.

Like John and Bill have said, you CAN bolt them down, but it is not recommended. Mine, too, is from Greg Smith Equipment. I've had mine, over 7 years and it has never moved. I do have the wheel kit hanging on the wall, but haven't used them since I moved it to the location it is now. At the time Ihad that delivered to my driveway (I used the schools' skidsteer with forks to unload it) for $1825. I put it together myself (literally, with a hand from Rosie here and there)in about 8 hours......that includes making mistakes (because the instructions weren't very clear in some instances), and having to take some things apart and redoing them. With a good set of instructions it could be done, in 4 to 5 hours with two guys.

I highly recommend the four-post.

I worked in the shop most of the day. #3 and SIL came out asking about the new router and how it worked, so I created a sign of their names.

They got married on a Friday and on the next Tuesday, after having all three girls now married off, I bought the 94 Corvette. 30 years after having my first one, a 64 coupe. Then two months later, #3 GS was born and 4 days after that I lost my dad. Very eventful two month period.
