As the beacon of our existence can now be seen off on the horizon we should do more to fulfill our lives with earthly pleasures for we have but one shot at this thing we call life. Do what you had hoped to do now, for the future is never guaranteed.

Now, let me figure what grandiose dream that is left for me to encounter. One that won't end up in divorce or incarceration.

CLOUDY, COLD, AND A LITTLE WINDY WITH ICE HERE AND THERE. NOT A NICE WAY TO START THE DAY AND LITTLE IMPROVEMENT IS TO BE EXPECTED. THE CHEROKEES ARE SICK OF WINTER.

"The Budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled,
public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be
tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be
curtailed, lest Rome will become bankrupt. People must again learn to work
instead of living on public assistance." - Tommy T-Bone, 55 BC

Good Morning CGs!

Chicago has been getting hit hard with snow. The other day the storm dumped 12 inches. Got that all cleared up finally and roads cleared by yesterday morning. Fast forward to this morning and there is another 3-4 inches on the ground from overnight.

Buddy messaged me the other day with a last minute opportunity...he's going to Florida for a work conference and his wife had to cancel....would I like to go in her place? Hotel and everything paid for except for flight. Scored a killer deal last minute, $198 round trip. So here I am sitting at the airport waiting for the flight. It's already been delayed 2 hours so we'll see when we actually board. Regardless, it's 10 in Chicago and 80 in Orlando. I'll wait.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Oh man, are you gonna be out of your element. Get some sunscreen and prepare to sweat. Unless you never make it out of the hotel bar.

Morning guys...a little snow on the ground...maybe an inch. But it is really dry snow. Probably won't last too long either, as it is supposed to be in the low 40s today.

Not a lot going on today. Safe trip Matt.

Hidey-ho! At the moment, it is only 76 degrees colder than where Matt is headed. However, there are rumors of a mid-week warm-up to 40 - that will feel tropical.

Safe travels, Matt, and have a good day, yawlz!

Matt.....you lucky duck......enjoy!

Tommy......classic kitchen pass.......

Sun is out and the snow is maybe starting to think of melting..... day 4 of the wife's flu........ will it never end.......Doc put me on Tamiflu hopefully improving the odds for me not getting it......... I hope not.....wow.....

I have cabin fever.......I need to buy something cool to make me feel better...........I will justify it with Tommy's ideas that we should live with reckless abandon........ I think that is what he is saying......right?

More later as I hear the little bell tinkling......means I am needed........

And it sounds like something I'd hope for.

Been busy today. I started doing the plaques for Rosie....granddaughters actually, when I got a phone call from another one of the church members and Knights of Columbus member. He had been at church this morning and Father had told them that his mother had taken a turn for the worse and he was taking a leave of absence to go back home for "a while". Sad thing is he just got back Monday night....from the Philippines. He wanted to know if we could do something to help Father with his expenses. I made a few calls and myself and another member (our treasurer) went to see Father. We sat and talked with him and told him we were going to take care of his travel expenses. We looked at flight costs and came up with an idea what it was going to cost, then added some to it. We talked to another group and they are getting some together......Just received a couple more calls our entire community is coming together funds are coming in... this is the way a community works to support someone in need.

I haven't mentioned it but a friend of ours'son has been in the hospital for a couple of weeks after suffering severe burns over 50% of his body. People are rallying to help support his family while he undergoes painful skin scrubs and grafts. We are bird sitting for the mother of the boy and have a collection jar at the nursery. Others have taken to a street corner to garner donations. Helping others here at home and away. We donate regularly to a number of causes. None goes to phone solicitors though. Here is a pic of the young man I mentioned. This one was over a week ago.

Staff has been doing an amazing job. He goes into surgery every other day. Mainly they have been restoring his face. They will continue working on other parts of his body as well.

Here is a quote today from our friend, the boys mother.

"Well this has become my reality 2/11/18 I know there is a real world out there passing us by ! I wouldn’t have it any other way. With him till the end !! Today not such a great day Good news .... he's breathing on his own Bad News ...... He has a fever and they are checking to see if he has an infection And just now he went Berserk he wants to get out of that bed ! It took 4 of us to hold him down I'm on a terrifying roller coaster that I want to get off of !! We’ve been here almost a month and we have at least two months to go."

So if you thought you had a bad day, you probably didn't.
