Jalopnik referenced my early 2014 post on the 1985 Buick Somerset Regal coupe last week, instantly making it the most popular individual posting on Eighties Cars and pushing the 1987 Chevrolet Caprice Classic coupe down to second place.

Much more recent posts:

1989 Jaguar XJ-S convertible

1981 Ford Escort hatchback coupe

1980 Lincoln Continental Mark VI coupe

1986 Honda Accord sedan

Excellent! Always a pleasure to read your articles - it's amazing to see how far cars have come.

The first NEW car Rosie and I ever bought was a 1984 Honda Accord DX. When the "new" style came out in 86 I really wanted one...in 87 we traded for an LXi. We drove it for 7 years and loved it, handed it down to our oldest daughter who drove it another 4 years through her college years. 154k on the clock when we sold it to another family who drove it for another 6 years and I have no idea how many miles.

… and that short paragraph explains why Accords enjoy the reputation they have today. The LXi was nicely equipped—I remember hearing it described as "the true first Acura."

No leather interior though in the LZi and we opted for the 5 speed manual shift transmission.

Of the four I'd still take the Jag.

It'll never die, John. I always enjoyed the articles when you post them.

I see more and more clean examples of 80s cars coming out of the woodwork. Just old enough to be "classics" now and people are driving them and showing them off.

I think the real convertible was definitively the best looking of the XJ-S's, but oh that fear of deferred maintenance …

… this one does look nice, though:

I'm safe from ever getting one of these—an agreed upon Mulhern family car rule is never to buy a convertible that doesn't completely hide the top when its down.

I left a comment...

I do love the Town Car... just wish they were truly "crafted" and not molded out of plastic...
