I was MIA yesterday. I've been so freaking busy with stuff. I'm hustling trying to get stuff done before I have my surgery, things I won't be able to do for 6 to 8 weeks afterwards. And I've been approached to donate some things for auctions...Pheasants Forever and my GDs dance club, and then my 'normal' projects as well. I am helping a friend redo his kitchen, we assembled his cabinets, mounted doors and drawers Monday and Tuesday and I did a couple of other little things for that the last couple days, finished another cabinet and installed it yesterday, mounted some doors another client had painted, designed some things to cut for GDs thing, helped a couple others with little hour long (or less) projects, looked at another little job for a sweet little ole lady.

Today the internet/telephone/cable company will be here in a few minutes to "pre-wire" the house in prep for the fiber. They have to install a box and UPS inside the house and run a wire to my router from the box outside. Supposed to take 4 hours. We host the first round of football playoffs tonight as well. The AD called me yesterday to tell me, "I bought a new controller for the scoreboard. You may want to come up and look at it and see how to run it before the game." .... Gee you really think so? It's only a state playoff game, If I don't have any idea how to run it, it should still be OK.... So I'll go up to school and play around with that today before the game, so I'm at least somewhat familiar with it. I probably need to program it...I did all the others when they got them.

Well, that just about catches me up. Mike, I truly hope the interview went well. I don't envy you on the move. Tommy, I hope that you get to feeling better.

The weather here is supposed to be really nice, in the low 70s today and clear and light breezes...good day to be in the shop with the doors open.

Hidey-ho! Last day of work for a week, looking forward to some time off. Though after reading Tom's post, I'll almost feel like I have today off in comparison.

Enjoy your Friday, Gurus!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Yesterday I took to the task of changing out the CV axle in the wife's Nissan Rogue. Replacement OEM axle is in the $450 range. I decided to go with a new aftermarket axle from O'Reilly's. 92 bucks is a little easier to swallow. So I got it torn apart and threw the new axle in without too much difficulty. I've heard of people having problems with them but I actually beat book time. Took it for a short jaunt around the neighborhood and seemed good. Had a few other tasks to accomplish throughout the day. Later in the evening I took the car for a longer drive to pick up some food. Got it out on the roadway and that axle was vibrating like a MFr. Damn it.

This morning I dropped the kids off and had to go over to my mom's house to install a new storm door. I got that knocked out in about 2 hours. Stopped at a different O'Reilly's on the way home and bought another axle so I can swap it out tonight. Hopefully that fixes the problem. It's a pretty well-documented fact that Nissan has problems with aftermarket axles and sometimes it takes a few to get a good one. Great.

Hope everyone has a great day!

The gist of the story is 3 big pythons found locally feasting on somebody's chickens and geese. They ran over one with a bush hog and later captured a 7 and 9 1/2 footer. The big one had a whole goose in it's belly. Basically a warning to watch out for your small pets. I've seen an eagle flying around recently as well. The Yorkies are the size of a healthy rabbit. Geez Louise.

In other animal news, the blue jays have figured out I come out and give a resident squirrel (tree rat) some peanuts for a treat. The jays start squaking when I come out telling the other jays the peanut man is here. Today the squirrel waited for me and I hand tossed him a few. He's getting friendlier every day. Deep down I'm kinda like Jim Carey in Ace Ventura Pet Detective.

My grandpa used to throw a peanut up in the air, and the blue jay would grab it in flight. And he had squirrels and chipmunks that would climb up and take a peanut out of his shirt pocket.
