By 1986, these cars had evolved into stately evocations of another age. No longer an expression of anything reasonably current in the automotive world, they still received surprising respect. What cracks me up is when someone takes a vehicle like that, slams it or lifts it and put either undersized or over sized wheels and tires on them. Take a luxurious ride and make it into a teeth rattler or something that can hardly manage a round about. Never made any sense to me.
