CLOUDY AND DRIPPING ON THE NATIONS THIS MORNING, WHO CAN SAY WHAT THE DAY WILL BRING? IT DOES SOUND LIKE SUMMER WILL FINALLY ARRIVE THE END OF THE WEEK.

THE NEW MODEL GUNSHOW DID NOT IMPROVE YESTERDAY, BUT WAS NOT ANY SLOWER THAN SATURDAY, WHICH IS NOT USUAL FOR THE SMALLER SHOWS. THE AC WAS SO HIGH SATURDAY I HAD TO GO OVER TO THE FLEA MARKET AND BUY A LONG SLEEVE SHIRT. SATURDAY I DRESSED WARMER AND WAS COMFORTABLE. I BROKE DOWN AND BOUGHT A .22, A WINCHESTER MODEL 490. THESE WERE A COMPLEMENT TO THE MODEL 100 CENTERFIRE AND ARE NOTABLE FOR BEING A FULL SIZE RIFLE RATHER THAN .22 SIZE.

WENT FROM THE SHOW TO OKMULGEE FOR SUPPER WITH #1 DAUGHTER AND FAMILY. EVERYONE WAS THERE EXCEPT THE WARRIOR PRINCESS WHO IS ATTENDING QUARTERMASTER OFFICER BASIC AT FT LEE AND #3 GRANDSON WHO IS INTERNING WITH AN AGG OUTFIT IN KANSAS.
I DO LOVE MY KIDS :-)

Thanks, Gris.

Good morning, all. Did a "recovery run" this morning in 98% (measured) humidity. Ooog … no wonder I ran slow.

The recovery was because I ran a 31:17 in a 5k last Thursday evening. This beat my stretch goal for time and met my realistic for a 51-year-old goal of being at least half as fast as the 23-year-old race winner. It feels like more of achievement this time because a) I hadn't run even semi-competitively in a few years and b) we were running in pouring rain.

Thanks for the input John. Helps me to understand it's not that I'm working twice as hard today. It's that I'm working half as fast. I plan on doing some stuff today. See what I can accomplish. Weather sucks. Been raining a lot this rainy season.

I'm also still trying to get over the Corvette carnage at Le Mans—I think it'll take a couple of days. At this point, we've met all of the full-time drivers a couple of times, so there's some emotional involvement. No matter; later this week I'll shred the spotter's guide and move on …

So what is the deal.....we got mostly the same guys driving as we have had in the past right? I thought it was the restrictions they put on the C7-R to keep it down and so called give the others a chance......

We used to beat the snot out of those other cars in the not to distant past....... so what is up with that ?

I'm in the working class..... kinda...... I am getting a paycheck and I still have to go do stuff..... I'm proud to support the war effort...... and there is always a war...... so I must keep working ........ it's sad I know....

Have a bountiful day Guru's......

My opinions only:

1) The others have gotten better. There's no questioning that the Ford GT has raised the bar in GT Pro. The Ferraris are fast and they've stopped catching fire.

2) The others are coming with more cars. Ford brought four, which increases your odds. Ferrari also brought four and Porsche brought three.

3) We may have gotten all that is possible from a front engine car. It's notable that the top 8 finishers of the 17 GT Pro cars were mid-engine. It's also notable that the 911 has gone mid-engine after fighting it for over half a century.

4) Most uncomfortable to state—some of our drivers are getting old, while some of our number three drivers have not met expectations. Jan's mistake was an uncharacteristic one, and one I'm convinced he wouldn't have made five years ago. Marcel's mistake was a lack of patience with a bronze GT Am driver; sure, the driver should have given him more room, but Marcel shouldn't have put himself in the position of having to trust that driver.

Hey guys...Was up early, packed, loaded and departed KC. Stopped a couple times coming home, once for gas and once to see FIL. Had lunch with him too. Got three more calls on the way home for help setting up TVs for older folks.

Once home I had another call for help from one of the people I set up a couple weeks ago. Got her straightened out and stopped at one I did last week to install his new router. Got that done and it was time for Men's golf. We finished in 3rd place and got our entry money back.

Was cool cloudy and damp when we left KC, but as we made our way west the clouds dispersed and temps went up. Was in the mid 80s when we got home. But clouded up pretty quick and sprinkled. I thought it might mess up golf, but it held off until just now. A rain shower is going on right now.

Time for bed.......
