Good Morning CGs!

Sorry I've been missing for a couple of days again. Been busy with work, the kids, the house, everything. Haven't had a day off in almost two weeks.

I finally got a chance to work on the Corvette the other day. If you recall I was having problems with what seemed like an ignition misfire. After eliminating pretty much that entire system I came to the theory that I had a bad rocker arm or bad lifter. Thursday evening I took off the driver's side valve cover and found the picture below. I snapped off a rocker arm stud. Great. Although to be honest with you, I'm glad I found the problem and it's not as bad as I thought it could be. I don't have to tear into the engine to replace a hydraulic lifter. I have to stop by the Speed Shop this morning and see if they have rocker studs in stock.

Sounds like everyone has been keeping busy. TB, I fixed a chair myself the other day. The kids decided to stand on one of the dining room chairs and of course broke the MDF board that holds the cushion. I don't particularly care for upholstery but it needed to be fixed. That got done and luckily it turned out well.

Tommy, good luck with the hurricane. I hope it passes without any trouble.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm out of the danger zone. That's a relief. Guess Home Depot and Lowes will be busy with plywood and generator returns. Rather get ready and have a miss than get hit and not be ready. Today I guess I'll do something. Not sure yet. Wait till the coffee kicks in, loosen up in a hot shower and spread some Ben Gay on my knees and back. A little sunscreen and foot spray and I'll be ready.

When we moved in to this house we contracted a shutter company to put accordion shutters around 3/4ths of the house and panels for the front. Cost almost 10 grand then. Best 10 grand we spent as it makes closing up for a storm a lot easier. Take down too. Generators started up with no problems. I'm ready for the next one. Not a matter of if it's a matter of when.

We've been in this house 8 years already. Tempus fugit.

"OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING---"
SUNNY AND 65 DEGREES, FEELS LIKE FALL, BUT IT WON'T LAST. THE CHEROKEES WILL TAKE ALL THE PRETTY WEATHER THEY CAN GET, REGARDLESS OF DURATION.

AND SPEAKING OF THEM, THE CHEROKEE NATIONAL HOLIDAY STARTS TODAY, TRAFFIC WILL BE BAD IN TAHLEQUAH :-0

BABY DAUGHTER WILL BE HERE THIS AFTERNOON WITH HER TWO BOYS AND GRANDSONS 4 & 5 TONIGHT. THE BIG BOYS AND I WILL GO WEST TOMORROW MORNING. BD AND GRANDSONS 7 & 8 WILL STAY HERE THE WEEKEND. I'LL LOAD UP THE TRUCK TODAY.

THEY GOT SOME RAIN OUT WEST, THAT'S NOT GOOD, AS MY HOT SPOTS ARE WATERING PLACES. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY DOVE SHOOTS MARRED BY END OF AUGUST COLD FRONTS AND THUNDERSTORMS. WE SHALL SEE WHAT WE SHALL SEE.

GLAD YOU FOUND YOUR PROBLEM, MATT, BEFORE IT DID MORE DAMAGE.

Morning guys.....as Gris said, cool and cloudy today....low 80s for the high. We are headed out to some museum/park. Lunch will be a catered event, by Rosie’s #3 brother.

Tommy, check your PMs. I sent you one.

Matt, glad you got the problem figured out. Gris, good luck with the big hunt. Mike, enjoy the time with family. Tommy, thankful you are pretty much out of the severe stuff, but still thinking about those who are in the path.

Have a great day folks.

G’mornin’ all.
Tommy, I’m glad you’re gonna be ok. Those storm have done some real damage in the past. It’s a good thing to be able to sit one out.
Mat, it looks like you kinda dodged a bullet with the rocker stud. Are those 3/8 or 7/16? Also, did you find the rocker ball? That’s the only thing I can’t see in the pic. Anyway, you found the problem and there’s no apparent damage. And I know what you mean about working a lot. I’m on day 13, and in another week I’ll get a day off. Gotta love that O.T. If they’re going to give it away I’ll be there to pick it up.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good news Tommy..... not so good news up the coast though....

Long day yesterday. They are kicking my step dad out of Hospice care down in Kansas.....he was in tough shape when we took him in 2 months ago but has made a remarkable recovery.....and gained 15 lbs back. So he is going to graduate Hospice care the good way..... now I have to fine a place that will take him. I went to several places in the area yesterday and found all of them to be wanting in some form or another. Elderly care in this country sucks....... big time. They cannot get enough people to do the work......and the work is not good. Taking care of old folks with varying degrees of problems is depressing work and then it does not pay well either. Turnover is huge.... I'm in quandary right now so am praying the Lord will present a solution.... as for elderly health care goes, the main bunch of boomers have not even hit yet and that is even more depressing....... Lord, just let me go with my boots on.......

Hell I even tried some bribes to keep Granpa where he is at..... nice donation to the place even offered the gal who runs it pay off her school loans....... who do I think I am? Bernie Sanders.....
I really hate it when a good bribe does not work.........

Today I am in resting mode...... hey hey there is a Husker Game on today......suddenly I am in a better mood..... more later.... as it happens in real time........

Well, we went through the park/museum/art place....called “Chrystal Bridges”. Interesting, some well known pieces of art, some not so well known (obscure or unknown) and outdoor walking paths....even a Frank Lloyd Wright house, I wanted to go through that one, but they had wanting lists to go through it and I didn’t have time to wait until the time they could get us in.

Then we came down to another park where a BIL had reserved a place to eat. Almost all the family is now playing games... not me, I choose not to injure myself. It has warmed up to where they say the highs will be. It’s comfortable here in the shade.
