Good morning, all.

Ramping into Christmas—the train lights will stay on all day.

Did not get everything I wanted to get done for the party. Sue's fountain stealing two of my days certainly did not help. But the party will go on as scheduled. We had a ghastly several days of rain and weeks of overcast skies. Flooding to the north of me. This year it was not us that suffered the brunt of the rain. This year's party is slated to be huge. Lots of people saying they will attend. If those that said they are coming show up it will be more than 80 people. No fear. I can seat over 100. Found out yesterday a longtime friend of the family has passed. He has been battling cancer for years now. This guy was one that would not show you how much he was hurting. He always put up a strong front. Been in and out of the hospital but his last stay was and extended stay. The Jews bury quickly. He died day before yesterday. His funeral is today. No embalming. In a way I have found it to be the best for the family that it all goes so quickly. Enough morbidity. Let's get on with the show.

That's quite an event, Tom.

I'm working from home today—the University will officially close for the year at 2:00 PM. Most of our students are already long gone; finals finished on the 19th. The campus feels dead without them.

THIS IS A GOOD CHANGE FROM THE ANCIENT DAYS WHEN FINALS CAME IN JANUARY AFTER CHRISTMAS. THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THAT WAS MY AUNT WOULD TYPE UP ALL MY TERM PAPERS WHEN I WENT HOME TO TEXAS :-)

A SEMI-SUNNY AND COLDISH CHRISTMAS EVE MORNING IN THE NATIONS. THE CLAN WILL GATHER AFTER LUNCH, EXCEPT FOR THE INFECTIOUS OKC SEPT. CHRISTMAS MAY BE IN JANUARY FOR THEM. I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING THE LITTLE BOYS HERE CHRISTMAS MORNING. IT WILL BE #8'S FIRST AMERICAN CHRISTMAS.

I HOPE YOU ALL MADE THE "NICE" LIST.

about the coming of a Savior for the gentiles and the Jews."

Thanks, Gris. I have always wanted some kind of toy train, and considered going N scale and somewhat permanent. However, a casual perusal of Model Railroader quickly made me aware that what I would want in that area vastly exceeded a) what I was willing to spend and b) the space I was willing to allocate.

The Lego trains are a great compromise: they can easily be reconfigured for different size tables and moved to various rooms. Also, if I want to build a different locomotive or trainset, I can. Finally, they can be built incrementally over time—visible in that picture are parts of at least five separate kits.

...Gris, now all you have to do is download a term paper off the internet and pay the money and its all typed as it prints and everything...... of course it can be troublesome when the teacher gets 3 or 4 of the same papers........ but they never said college was going to be easy....

went and saw Ma and step Pa yesterday in Kansas...... it was like 66 degrees is the Sunflower State.... I took 3 big pies and a big tray of Christmas cookies for the inmates at the old folks home..... much eating commenced..... I try and sit and talk to the ones that have their wits about them..... one old gal wants me to call her son and tell him to treat her better...... now that's sad...... being in that place which is not a bad place, but typical of the retirement homes across the land, always reinforces my thoughts of going out with my boots on and still living on my terms...... hope that is a long ways off yet..... I notice I'm having these thoughts and in 2020 I will turn 70...... wow....

gotta get to the bank for some cash to give out and then its back to wrap a few presents and then head to church and the iHop.....

Have a merry olde day Guru's......

Morning guys....up about normal time. Took #1 and SIL out for breakfast. The kids will be here around noon. Helped them with the cleaning and touch-up around the house. Rosie and I will go to the store for last minute stuff needed for the party tonight, in a little while.

Your little get together is going to be quite a bit bigger than ours, Tommy. Only 17 here.

Well, Rosie is calling me to take her to the store. I'll try to check in later.

Well, the primary work year is over.

Now listening to Lessons & Carols at King's College, Cambridge—strong echos of my life all those years ago as a boy chorister in New York City.

Good afternoon -
at the office today but the guys tell me we're leaving at 3. Have a party at Arron's family at 6:30, small snacks, we have ours put together already. My bunch at 1 tomorrow.
Not sure when the nursing home here is having their dinner, nobody could tell me yesterday. I got an invite for turkey day but not Christmas. We'll take her a plate and gifts anyway after my bunch is done.
Hope everyone has a relaxing day.
I could not imagine 100 people in my house. Just nope.

Well we had 83 but a few have dropped out and some won't show. Then again, some extras may come. I have seating outside for 69 set up. More places to sit inside and several benches that I'm not counting. Coolers are already filled and icing down. My outside work is almost done. Tomorrow set up some games The cars are dirty I have some topiary animals that need to be trimmed. If I don't get to it, Oh well. Have to vacuum and mop the floors. Sue was at the hospital and is on her way home. Her aunt had a stroke. Not too good. Lower paralysis and her right side. Roasts are slow cooking in the oven. There should be plenty of food. Some of our regular guests passed this year. They will be missed at the festivities. Have a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. God bless. Stop in if you're in the neighborhood.
