Morning guys....Cold and sunny here this morning. Upper 40s for a high predicted. We slept in until 8:30.

I'll head out to the shop pretty soon. I started the second table yesterday....would have been easier to have done two at the same time, but I didn't know she wanted two. I got ahead of myself a bit and have to do some extra work on one piece today. By the end of the day today, I hope to have the thing, basically, put together. I spent some time, yesterday, taking pictures of the details of how I put it together, because a lot of those never show and people don't realize what goes into building an authentic reproduction.

My daughter in KC had $60K in solar panels installed on her house 2 years ago now. My issue is, if electricity goes out, they still don't have electricity, as all the electricity it produces goes back into the grid and they get "credit" on the electric bill. Now that being said, their electric bill is pretty much nil. During the winter they get credit, during the summer the bills are minimal. They are figuring a payoff in about 10 years. I looked into that here, but our electric company isn't very friendly to the fact, and, even though they are required by law to 'buy my produced electricity', they won't pay me anywhere near what they charge me for it, so, payoff is like 30 years....not worth the $45K it would cost me.

Have a great day guys.

The day will come when the solar thing will get cheaper.... not very soon though.... It would take about 60 to $70K to put up the panels for this place..... we love our juice here...... that is with no storage added....... I'm thinking get a bunch of car batteries in the basement and have them charged up...... or not..... I'm like Gris..... propane and coop electrical.......

Now if I was in my 30's or 40's and building a new home I would probably spend the money.......

My Brides birthday today....... I'm taking the day off and spending it at home...... which I would be doing anyway with the crap weather we are having.... cold out there...

stay huddled up Guru's.....

The gas companies around here came through and 'bought out' all the people, around here, who had "free gas" for their homes several years ago. The buy out was all new electric or Propane appliances plus $$$$. Everyone went in on it, because the "free gas" was getting to the point where it had so much moisture in it, that during the winter months, it would freeze off multiple times a week/month.

Happy birthday to Lynn!

Like I mentioned. If it was just me I would have passed. Sue could be around awhile so if she gets to be an old lady it will cost her less to stay here. My son, if he inherits the place, will get a good deal. lol

I got ahead of myself yesterday and glued the back panel together before cutting a groove for the bottom, so first thing today was to cut that. This where the groove goes.

Resized Image

I used a router to cut as much as I could, then the rest had to be cut by hand with my chisel.

One of the great properties of working with wood is that you can mess up and still make corrections or alterations. Good job, tee.
