Rained through the night. The water was threatening to enter my back shed but has receded slightly. I have to keep a watchful eye over the next 24 hours. Most of my stuff is up off the floor in the garage but under the worst case scenario I could get 3 to 4" of standing water in the garage. Get one of those situations every 2 or 3 years. All the living areas stay high and dry with a several inches to spare. I hate it though. A sump pump is of absolutely no use. The whole area gets the same high water. I'm just a few miles east of the Everglades. A swamp.

MORE RAIN LAST NIGHT, 3/4 INCH.
SUNNY AND COOL AT THE MOMENT, MORE STORMS AND HEAVY RAIN ON THE WAY THEY SAY. THE WEBS BETWEEN MY TOES ARE STARTING TO MILDEW.

LOST ELECTRICITY YESTERDAY MORNING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. LIMBS FROM ONE OF OUR BIG TREES SHORTED OUT THE LINES, BLACKED OUT THE WHOLE AREA. FORTUNATELY NO PITCHFORKS AND TORCHES APPEARED.

Morning guys... Cloudy, chilly, windy and damp, but no real rain for us...we really need it though. Another inch or so like last week MIGHT pull our dry-land wheat crop out from disaster. Highs today upper 50s to lower 60s.

Not much on the agenda today. Was going to wash the pickup, but with the wind and chilly temps, it ain't gonna happen.

Our gratitude to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms today.

Happy Memorial Day, all.

My father has been the master of ceremonies for the Ardmore Memorial Day parade and memorial service since sometime in the 1980s (!). It's a great chance to see him in his "choker" dress whites, and it's a charming small town ceremony. Afterward, a bunch of us repair to the ancestral Mulhern home for lunch.

Of course, there's no parade this year. My father and my youngest sister are going to walk down to the cemetary this morning and make sure everything is as it should be. Ivelis and I will walk over this afternoon and make an appropriately distanced visit—I think we'll be on the lawn. It's not the same, but it's something.

Sue's surgeon friend stopped by today, She sat with Sue in the house, brought her own ultra sonic therapy machine. Showed Sue how to use it and stayed with her through the treatment in our family room. She is lending Sue the machine to help accelerate her healing and called in a script for some antibiotics. I gave her a tour of the yard as Sue is due to landscape her home soon. She is around my age and just a big hearted, grounded individual. Just wanted to let you know there are some in the medical field that go out of their way to help. As the good doctor told me today "I don't really have any hours. I'm on 24/7.

Thank you for showing the names of the fallen soldiers. It brings a meaning to the day and the sacrifices made. May these men and all those who’ve made that sacrifice rest in eternal peace.
