For C6s and above, Chevrolet added a passenger compartment air filter. Yesterday evening, I replaced mine, which I believe was original to the car. The picture below shows the difference between the two—I probably should have done this years ago.

Mine wasn't too far behind... I ended up going with the K&N solution... we have sooo much fine dust out here, and that leads to more frequent replacement, after 2 or 3 new paper filters, I am making money by using the cleanable K&N!
