have any of you with a GS C6 needed to do this?
My passenger just blew, Arron told me what the part number was based off what they have at work and the price. No way I'm paying nearly $300 for a frickin' speaker. Solid nope. I'd rather get it off Esteal. But, I'm seeing two. The info he's giving me doesn't jive with what I see for others. Was wondering if any of y'all had torn into this and actually saw what was in there before I jumped out on a limb.

I have a 2012 GS Centennial.
I need a few things. I bought this rig to fix and sell but have found myself stuck with it due to some truck trading issues preventing me from parking/disassembling it for what I intended to do, so looks like a fixer/keeper.
I've not torn into the door panel but there's tons of replacements on ebay for $50ish, plus I have a guy around the corner here that sells salvage vette parts. I just really didn't want to pull out a door panel till I had a speaker in hand. Honestly, I think they both need an upgrade to handle bass and volume better.
Listings i find shows one unit, his part number pulls up something that other listings say go in different models not mine. I got confused so I'd rather see the thing myself prior, thus wondered if any GS owners ran into it yet.
I'll check out those links shortly

Ok, I like that JBL unit for the rear hatch area.
Had no clue there was a tweeter in the dash??
Mine is the Nav unit w/siris XM
However - is there no way to bluetooth to this thing? I mean, I can get a $69 head unit at Wally world that will but a car with an original price tag of $74k didn't have it stock? WTH
There has to be a way around this

The killer problem is that the basics of the telematics were designed in the early 2000s. Us 2012 owners got a slightly upgraded version of the 2005 unit.

That's why Ivelis and I ended up giving in and putting a Kenwood in it's place. At this point, we've forgotten what the old unit even looked like.

Kenwood mite be the ticket then . I can’t stand not having a basic function like Bluetooth. I’m sure it’d put out better sound also. I mite add that to my Christmas wish list

—Ivelis and I are quite happy with it, but it is very fancy. I'll grab some pictures of the install for you this weekend.

I have a similar Kenwood... I don't remember the exact model number now! It does all that John's does. I use Android Auto with mine to do the nav and music functions.

I also have a box full of components that I need to install, but a bad back and bum knee has really slowed me down.

Morel 3-way front drivers, JL Audio sub, Helix, Focal and Pioneer amps.

Backup camera!!!! Yes I for sure need that with my history
What's an average total cost for all this? Looks pricey, and can I do it myself?
Where does the camera go? I need to poke a hole somewhere or is it exterior mounted?

Side note: I have all the original C5 Bose with cd changer that came out of my 2002 if someone needs it. It's sitting in my garage, I just found it. Had it listed for sale then forgot about it.

I will update this thread tonight... too busy to do the download...

the real problem? Many of these fancy headunits are unavailable right now due to chip shortages.

ok... time is now available.

The reality is this... age of the car is now conspiring against you. The audio system is one of the first major components to take a shit.

Cars are a harsh environment. Temperature, humidity, vibration... it all adds up to a short lifespan. Speakers dry rot, CD drives atrophy, amps wear out.

And Bose, in general, is not immune... in fact, their long term durability flat out sucks, even for home audio.

Save your pennies, you have time, because, as I said, most of these units are not available.

I have much of the hardware needed to upgrade my OEM system (Delco, not Bose). But haven't gotten to it... a blown up knee has killed me.

However, good aftermarket stuff will fit in the car with minimal mods, but will sound exponentially better than the Bose.

I have to admit, I have rather expensive tastes in audio. I have been doing audio for 45 years and have learned a few things:

1. The best is normally worth it. It lasts longer and sounds better

2. The best is not automatically the most expensive

Much depends on your taste in music, but the truth is, the internal amp of a head unit is not enough.

First off, I would gut the entire Bose system. As I said, it ain't getting younger.

For the front speakers, I got Morel 3-way components. You may not want that, so a nice 2-way system could fit just as well. These are the ones I got:

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_210VIR603/Morel-Virtus-603.html

There is a little speaker in the B-pillar. If you want to use that, it can be powered by the head unit, no problem. It's just adding ambience anyway... but you will need an amp for the front stage, I like these:

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_161ACM23 ... l-ACM-2-300.html?tp=35757

If you decide to go 4 channel, 2 of those, or, 1 four channel:

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_210MPS44 ... l-MPS-4-400.html?tp=35782

But there are others that should do well without breaking the bank... just avoid the junk brands. Morel, Focal, Hertz, MB Quart, JL Audio, Alpine and Kenwood are the best brands.

For the bass, the Bose equalization was junk anyway, so a nice sub would be a huge benefit. I would look at one of the smaller sub boxes with a built in amp. Something like this would do the trick:

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KSCSW ... wood-KSC-PSW8.html?tp=114

I like JL Audio subs, hate their amps. They sound ok, just not very durable.

A few brands to avoid... MTX, Rockford-Fosgate (they were world class, but are now living off a past greatness), Boss, Dual, Jensen, Soundstream (again, past greatness), Sony (sounds great, not super durable), Pioneer (sounds muddy, never have liked their sound quality). Stay clear of the cheap crap... The $125 head units are not where you want to be.

All of this is a suggestion and a reference point. Not a hard fast rule.

As I said, I have been doing audio since I was a kid. I didn't understand it then, but it became obvious that I had a unique situation... I could hear things no one else could. I would walk into the department store electronics dept and hear all these high-pitched squeals... at times, it was painful, but I found out later it was either failing horizontal output transistors, or, weak power supplies.

As I got older, I learned that cheap audio gave me a headache. Cheap audio gets harsh, due to the junk components in the amps. This is why I spend money... I don't buy much, but when I do, it's the best I can afford.
