Dayum. I was up before 05:00 thinking about cremation arrangements for me and Sue and I couldn't get it to stop. After 3 attempts to fall asleep again I just got up and started looking stuff up. The local funeral home offers an Affordable Cremation Package. I found a nice remains container with built in spreader. Nice. And only $69. I made Sue breakfast. Gave her a quick rundown on what to do should I depart this plane. Made my own breakfast and now I'm gonna get ready to shower, get dressed and maybe head uptown.
I think it's important for couples to know what the other one wants when the inevitable happens. Makes it easier in a time of confusion if plans are set and all you have to do is put them in motion. Now that that is settled again I can move on with my life. Maybe take a nap this afternoon. As the number of people who care if I'm here or gone declines, a nice gathering at the house to say a final good bye should suffice. Funerals can end up being like weddings. Spending way too much on pomp and circumstance. Especially on weddings, there's a 50/50 chance of failure. At least with funerals we have come to know that one day there is a 100% chance of dying. Keep it light. Don't let this stuff get you down. Celebrate the day, especially if you woke up this morning.

BREEZY, DRIPPY, AND COLD IN SOAKLAHOMA, ANOTHER HALF INCH OF RAIN. THE WORD FOR THE DAY: DISMAL.

TOMMY, I DON'T WORRY ABOUT THAT FUNERAL STUFF. I HAVE A HEREDITARY GRAVE YARD TO BE BURIED IN. DARLING WIFE WANTS TO PRE-INSTALL A TOMBSTONE MINUS DATES. I'M AGIN' THAT, MIGHT BE BAD LUCK:-) I HAVE PROMISED NOT TO FUSS ABOUT WHAT THEY DO AFTER I'M DEAD.

LETTY, I'M GLAD YOU ARE GETTING SUCH GOOD RESULTS WITH THERAPY.

When institutions and politicians cannot accommodate radically changed circumstances, people will no longer value institutions and politicians. In their place, citizens will seek to ensure their own livelihoods, leisure and safety in ways that are more reliable and affordable — with their circumstances in their own hands rather than in those of distant others. And their adjustments won’t always be calm or polite. Victor Davis Hanson

Good morning - slow day at work thankfully, just a couple of things to work on and get in the print que. Easy $ for the boss today.
The issues with that airstream and the horrible people has finally come to a close. Their install is complete and he's done fighting with them also. They tried to start more mess and he said "look" and he let it rip on them. Blasted them and put them in their place I'm told by a witness. They admitted what they were trying to do, apologized at the end and we're done with them. I can't stand people like that. They still tried to refute things untill he showed them my folder full of time stamps, job notes, emails and such. Some people are just flat out crazy. On to other things.
Tommy, when my mother passed and I ordered her headstone, I had it made out for "mother and daughter", had all my information engraved except for my date of death and last name. My intentions are to be cremated, and placed next to her cremains with some of me at the beach. Was easier to do at that time when I was already numb from her passing. Seemed logical. At some point I plan to get my obit constructed as well as any photos or music needed for a memorial service. I'd like mine to be a party and not a sad funeral type thing. I hate those. And would rather it not be in a 'facility' such as funeral home chapel etc. I have absolutely no issue with the house of God, but seems those funerary chapels are just dreary. I want to have a happy occasion.
Speaking of dreary, still raining and ugly here from the Gulf, will be 31 tonight. Next weekend we're back up at 71 for the high.

I can’t get the Missuz to go along with my wishes for my funeral.
Of course, rock music from each of my decades. But I’d like people to be entertained as well. During visitation, a group of predetermined people come in and start a brawl with each other. Preferably midgets.
The gravesite needs to have a few heavy set women of a different ethnicity wailing and throwing themselves on my casket, screaming of injustice!
Then, of course, the reception will be a Luau with torch dancers and the prerequisite open bar.
I’m not sure why the wife can’t agree to my requests.
See ya Friday, Gurus!

Hey guys...busy, most beautiful day here.

I kind of like your ideas for your funeral, Bob...I can't understand why the missus won't go along with it. No big, outlandish, funeral for me. Fry my butt to a crisp and throw my ashes in a field.....

Going to see FIL tomorrow...
