Good morning, all.

When I was in the navy in the mid to late 1980s, the memory of Pearl Harbor was still visceral within the service. That was before I visited the USS Arizona Memorial, with the oil still leaking from the shattered remnants of that ship. RIP to the 2,043 who died that day.

TRULY A DAY THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY. BUT IT MUST BE ADMITTED, MASTERFULLY DONE.

IT'S CLEAR AND COLD IN THE NATIONS THIS MORNING, THE CHEROKEES WERE RELUCTANT TO GET OUT FROM UNDER THE WARM COVERS. 57 IS THE PREDICTED HIGH.

AUTO ROTATION DAY: THE BUMBLEBEE GOES IN THE READY RACK. GOT A FEW ERRANDS TO RUN, NEED TO STOCK UP ON RAWHIDE CHEWS FOR TROUBLE AND GET SOME CRISP NEW CURRENCY FROM THE BANK FOR CHRISTMAS GIVING.

THAT DOG EATS THOSE CHEWS LIKE POPCORN, JAWS LIKE A WOOD CHIPPER---

Rainy night in Geor, I mean Florida. Cold fronts blowing through today. Cooler temps mid week. My Christmas lite decorations are up. Just don't feel like investing a lot of time in decorations this year.

I remember making a chessboard in woodworking class in high school. Back in those days we used fish glue. I can smell it just thinking about it. lol

Morning guys....another 10 hour night. Yea, that looks like my work on that van.

Fish glue...I've never heard of that before, Tommy. but I can believe it is such a thing, as the natural protein is something that has been used for hundreds of years. I can only imagine what that smelled like. Out here we used "hide" glue, made from the hides of cows and horses. Had to keep it hot, so that smell was prevalent in the shop... and throughout the entire school building...no wonder 'shop classes' weren't very popular with the fairer sex.

I hope and pray that we never forget, or allow to have the history of Pearl Harbor, to be erased/forgotten.

By a Harvard man, no less. Sigh …

… for all of the carnage, the USN had two positives:

1) By blind luck, the carriers were at sea

2) The Japanese neglected to go after the oil storage in any meaningful way

FROM WHAT I READ THE JAP NAVY WAS ADDICTED TO COMPLEX, MULTI-PHASE, MULTI-DIRECTION OPERATIONS.
THEY WERE DEVASTATING WHEN THEY WORKED---ALSO DEVASTATING WHEN THEY DIDN'T WORK. APPARENTLY, THE KISS PRINCIPAL WAS TO THE IJN UNKNOWN.

YAMAMOTO WAS AN INTERESTING CHARACTER, KNEW HE COULD NOT WIN, STILL DID HIS DAMNEST.

Very true saying that freedom is not free.
Very nice work on the clock Tee, beautiful.
Outside Christmas stuff is up here, some things up in the room at the nursing home, cousin is back in her "other" normal room. Her original is part of the new covid unit, might not ever go back. Still trying to find all her stuff. The zero positive facility now has 5 residents and 1 employee. I walk in covered heat to toe in plastic, they're all not covered and half have on a mask. And they wonder how it's spread. WTF
haven't really sat down all weekend, pulled a muscle in my back (right kidney area) deep cleaning the east end of the house. BF suggested spending Christmas week at the beach to get away from here and avoid all the BS. Not really in a holiday mood anyway, so off to picking a condo.
hope everyone had a great weekend.

Dec. 7, 1941
Pearl Harbor - Hawaii
7:55 am
2403 servicemen and women and civilians died
1178 injured
Of those dead, over 1000 remain entombed on the USS Arizona (now a memorial) which still leaks oil referred to as “black tears”
For some it took “16 days to die” as seen on a calendar recovered from the ship West Virginia where 3 were trapped, survived 16 days marking days on the calendar then died
159 planes damaged
164 destroyed
16 ships damaged
3 destroyed
2 hours
U.S. enters World War 2
Freedom is not free

Well Marc and Tom, you guys, as well as everyone here, take care of yourselves!
There’s been some Facebook talk of the schools merely glossing over Pearl Harbor, if it’s mentioned at all. There are too many aspects of that day, military and otherwise, to ignore it. I’m pretty sure it would be a mistake, so I guess that’s just what many of the schools will do. But I hope not.
As for me, I’ve decided to discuss WW2 with the young’uns.
Get well, feel good, and have a great week everyone!
