16 DEGREES ON THE FRONT PORCH AND OVERCAST. THE CHEROKEES ARE GETTING S.A.D. BIG SNOW FORECAST FOR SUNDAY-MONDAY BELOW FREEZING ALL WEEK. NOT SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO WITH GLEE. FOOTING IS STILL TREACHEROUS FROM THE INITIAL ICE GLAZE THAT HAS NEVER MELTED. I'D BE SOL IF DARLING WIFE HAD NOT BOUGHT THOSE ICE CREEPERS.

THE ANTI-TRUMP HYSTERIA CONTINUES UNABATED. HE SCARED THE DOGSHIT OUT OF THE PERMANENT POLITICAL CLASS AND THEY ARE AFRAID OF A COMEBACK. WHAT THE NATIONAL SOCIALISTS WANT IS A BILL OF ATTAINDER.

Very cold and ugly out this morning, ice still everywhere, we were due some more during the night but not seen it yet. Arron brought me to work then he went on in, wasn't too bad. We're expected around a foot of snow in three different drops starting Monday. We've not seen that in years around here, usually we just get a dusting. Time to find an old car hood and gas up the four wheeler. I figure by the time i'm off again and can play it'll be gone. Fair enough, I don't like the stuff anyhow. we have single digit lows and 20mph winds coming with all this mess too. Bring on spring!

Morning..still. Kind of chilly here too, 0 now with an expected high of 6....oh boy what fun.

Went to look at a small cabinet job last evening and when I came home to do the drawings, I find my CAD computer (a WinXP machine because my CAD program won't run on anything newer) is down...won't start......CRAP! So I start going through my "backup computers" trying to find one with WinXP so I can load the CAD. Find one (takes about an hour and a half because I have to clean it off of the old data), get CAD loaded, but it requires a license file which is on a 3.5 floppy disk...the floppy drive won't read it. So now I'm trying to find a computer with a floppy drive, that works, to copy the file on to an flash drive to copy onto the computer......That's a no go. So I take the HDD out of the "dead" computer to try and pull the file off it. I throw it into my docking station and try to access it. It comes up with an error message but offers to "find and fix" the issues. I'm not optimistic, but to my surprise, it says all problems were fixed. So I find the file and copy it to the flash drive. Then I install the HDD back into the computer and fire it up...to my surprise, it starts up and runs like it never had a problem. I decide to go ahead and prep the other computer as a "Ready Backup". By this time it is 1AM. I head for bed.

I wake up at 8 and come right down to start the drawings so I can figure a price. I fire up the CAD machine and begin. I turn to my internet machine (behind me) and log into the cabinet company site and then smell an electrical burning odor. Turn around to find the
CAD machine down......SH!T. I reach around to pull it out and find the power supply is quite HOT...OH, OK that's what caused the problem before, it failed and corrupted the HDD. So, last night while hunting through my supply of computers for a 3.5 that worked, I decided that I was going to go through those computers and trash those that had issues and save any parts that might be of service. One of the parts I saved from one of them was a fairly new power supply, so I install that into the CAD machine and fire it up....IT WORKS! I'm finally (I hope) done with all this stuff.

Staying inside today.

That made my head hurt for you just reading that.
Sounds like my day. I'm 2/3 into a 25' box truck/international cab design and client asks for a very minor tweak on the rear. Won't open. "disk error". This was 4 hours worth of work for me just a couple days ago. Worked fine then so why not now? I tried every preference manipulation I can think of. And even tried an 'import' hail Mary - this time got stuck on 'processing smart object'. That'd be the logo I needed to switch out - the 'minor' change. I happend to have made a backup of this to take home in case i wasn't able to come in today, hoping when I get home and try that one it works fine. I hate this POS windows 10 machine. What I do doesn't need done on a PC anyhow, I need a mac in here

Talk about coincidence! I had to cough up $185 to get my sons pc fixed today. Last fall the hard drive died, this time they say the ram croaked.
Otherwise not a bad day. Cashed in on a favor owed and took today off. Had an extended lunch with the homies and found out about all kinds of stuff that went on in the college days. I didn’t know about these “habits” of the young women then because I was always at work. Probably for the best.
Gris, it seems we agree about impeachment 2.0. Probably about 1.0 as well.
Have a great one Gurus!

Here in Florida, well, it's Florida.

Business is booming. That's bad for me. That means my phone keeps ringing. This work related thing is interfering with my other career. Retirement. The more I try to retire the busier the business seems to get. Spread a box truck load of mulch this morning by myself. At least Sue and one of her field workers got it ready so all I had to do was pick up the truck, drive it home, and empty it. On my last 2 buckets Sue calls me and asks me if I'm almost done. She needs my help. No break, no coffee, just go back and sit at the nursery for a half hour. A nursery half hour is 2- 3 hours. A couple of hours of help is usually 4-6 hours. I know, I'm complaining about making money. I've had a lifetime of work so for me it's more about having more time than money. That way I can work on my $#!+. I said to Sue last night, who's gonna help you when I'm dead.
