That rubbery crap - I’m not buying a new console so is there anyway to fix this or just peel it all off and paint body color?
Suggestions? (Besides clean it haha I’m getting to it eventually )

The only fix I've seen is removing it and painting it. Or there are aftermarket leather wrap kits that look nice.

I can wrap it but getting vinyl to stay put would be awful. I didn’t know if that coating could be replicated. Why did GM do that crap anyway

lmao, no I figure skin oils and heat from the sun through the glass probably is the culprit.
Getting new tint Thursday, going with Llumar ceramic 15 on sides and rear and 50 on windshield. That should knock the heat down a ton and help save the interior.
I was just told there was a pint of my paint left so planning to just use that for the console.

I looked this up "over there" and found a couple of threads. Some say use non acetone nail polish remover and it will take the rubbery stuff right off. It leaves a slick surface so you can low pressure soda blast this to achieve a matte look. If you don't like that you can opt top paint body color or another dude used an airbrush gun with #4 tip with plastikote thinned and was happy. However that will result in same wear problems. Paint will scratch also, but I've had a painted one and didn't have any issues. I do think one of our suppliers offers clearbra pattern for console so that will likely be my next option.

I have body color painted interior pieces on the C5 and I have no issues with wear.

this is a super common problem on, of all things, Ferrari's.

There is a firm in MD called Sticky No More, https://stickynomore.com/, they will remove that coating and apply a new coating. It lasts longer and won't break the bank.

There are other fixes involving hydro-printing. Essentially, a water transfer.

Thanks for the link Andy. Matt I had body color painted interior in my C5 also, Don painted them when he did the rebuild on the car. I had no issues with wear then, either.

I sent them an email, waiting to hear back. Their Corvette price list doesn't show my particular console, looks like an older model. I also asked if what they do will match the rest of what's there as it's not damaged. Im okay painting and it looking a bit different but not having something that's "close" and it look awkward.

I saw that older photo in there. He asked for pics of my car, still waiting on a quote after I sent pics. I figured he'd done some C6 by now? I told him he was referred to me in case it helps you out any.

I would expect they have, but you never know...

There is another firm that does hydro-printing, too. Pretty neat stuff. It's a very durable decal. They look great.
