I replaced the actuator motor and gearbox after the old one on my 2007 convertible started not wanting to close the tonneau cover. The plastic gearbox on the original cracked and would not allow the tonneau cover to close and lock into place after raising and lowering the convertible top. I was dreading the job, but after a correct diagnosis from my description of the problem and encouragement that it was an easy fix from Lyle Aulwurm at C&S Corvettes, Inc., 5317 Ashton Ct, Sarasota, FL 34233-3402 at www.corvettepartscenter.com, who also was able to supply the part, I tackled the problem. The service department at my local Chevrolet dealer did not want to touch my convertible top problem, so it was either I fix it or find a local shop that would do it. My biggest problem was getting the waterfall off, but I found numerous sources of information on how to do that by searching Corvette Forum. It is nice to have my top operating correctly again. I have a PDF file on how I did it, but was not able to upload it to this message. Contact me by email and I will send it to you.

Thanks. You are so right, it does feel good to do it yourself. This last summer I had to clean all the contacts on my C6 door latches inside and out. Found videos and info on how to do it on various Corvette forums. It sure is nice to have a community of like minded people to fall back on.
