I'm looking for a clean photo of a C3 (and other generations) for putting on the forum menu.

I'd prefer something stock looking, and with a clean background that makes it easy for me to photoshop.

Also it should be at an angle that highlights the features of the C3, to make it easy to identify in that tiny picture.

See the forums main page for an example of the C4 I put up there.

The chrome bumper looks beautiful, but I'm afraid the color is going to blend in a little too much with the page background. That red will really pop.

I'll try both out and see.

I was just invited over here by Durango_Boy, as I've known him for a while now from another forum and he's been a great help to me.

I've had my '76 for almost 13 years now. Here are some pictures from last summer (each thumbnail below is a link to a much larger picture):

Thanks Doug, glad you're here.

I've actually met Doug before in person, and he, his wife, and child, are all wonderful. Sarah and I loved getting to meet with them over some wings and beer as they came through town here in Columbia.

That's an awesome looking car man...show them the 'stock' engine. LOL. He's added headers and a K&N. *Snicker*

Lots of great looking C3s.

Wow, thank you for the warm welcome, guys!

Yeah, I tell the locals that I did a "Krylon rebuild" when I put in the headers. I told the wife I was fixing all of the oil and coolant leaks. It works, it doesn't leak anymore. Here are some pictures of the process:

I put in a shift kit before the engine swap and updated the transmission modulator, governor programming, driveshaft U-joints, and powder coated the transmission pan and shifter brackets while I was at it. All of the pulleys and brackets were powder coated too, which made the whole thing look nice and clean when it was done. I removed the heater hoses from the heater core when I put in the new engine (it's never driven in cold weather anyway) but I did install an electric choke conversion on the carburetor.

I also put on a new steering valve, power steering pump, all hoses, belts, motor mounts, starter, all sensor sending units, etc. while I was "fixing all the leaks". You just have to do all the maintenance jobs too, right? :-)

What links? They work the same way as the other site.

Anyways, how does the powdercoating hold up on the pulleys? Do you mask the grooves, or does the belt just wear it off on its own?

Where did you buy the steering gear box?

How does a transmission modulator work? Does that control the shift points and torque converter lockup? Does it still use a vacuum switch and a TV cable? Sheesh, so many questions.

Wow, very nice work!

By the way, are you going to change hoods? I also looked at that intake, but all of my measurements added up to interference with the stock hood, so I decided against it.

I'm replying on my Blackberry at the moment, so this reply will be breif; I'll post more later...

The powder coating holds up almost too well under the pulleys. The belts have to be a little tighter since the bare steel grips the rubber belt (or vice-versa) better than the smooth powder. It's basically a plastic coating for the steel.

My gearbox is still original. I changed out the valve, hoses, and pump, but not the steering gear.

I was told that the intake would fit under a '76 hood on the CorvetteForum.com forums, so I tried it and it fit OK for me. I still have the OEM insulation on the bottom of the hood too, and it fits- although I believe it rubs lightly.

As for the links, you should be able to click on any of the little thumbnail pictures I posted to pull up a much larger picture, although when I tried them last night the only thing that popped up was another tiny one. Are you guys getting the same results when you click on my thumbnails?

The transmission vacuum modulator is just a spring-loaded vacuum diaphragm that controls a spool valve. When engie vacuum is low, the modulator increases line pressure, which delays upshifts and makes them more firm under higher load. An adjustable one let's you tune the sensitivity a little bit, which I believe allows the upshifts to be tuned on the order of 2-3 mph. It's not a huge adjustment range.

My '76 still has the original TH350, so there isn't any lockup clutch in the converter. The kickdown cable is unaffected.
