Has anyone installed 6'5" component front speakers in their '90 - '96 in the stock rocker sill location? If so, where did you mount the tweeter? I have CDT components in my 325 'vert and I would love to install a set of these in my '93 vette.

Pic's or install hints would be appreciated thanks!

Brian! You're back! Long time no see!

Remember my install? This is the easy way:

Remove the rocker panel covers, then the bose enclosures... then cut the hell outta the grill. That will allow you to simply install the speaker on top. It ain't perfect, but it sure works well.

If you had 3-ways, you could do what I did and install the 4" drivers in the door panels. I drilled a bit hole in the top of the door panel and installed the tweeters there.

Thanks bogus. You don't happen to have any pic's do you? I assume I would just end up with the aftermarket speaker grill on top of the OE carpeted speaker "box" piece?

Spring is in the air so, it's time to start thinking about all things C4. I just received a set of HID headlights and fog lights in the mail today. I should have the C4 out of storage in April. I can take some pic's and do a write up for HID conversion in a C4 if you like, both headlights and fog lights.

Thanks for the help, it's good to be back!

time to change my sig to my new car!

Tyler is coming over this afternoon, maybe in his C4...if he's up for it maybe we'll measure and see if a 6.5" speaker will fit.

about half way down:

http://www.corvette-guru.com/modules/ ... php?topic_id=5817&forum=2

It's not an issue of if they will fit... it's if you can deal with the compromise.

If I had time to build the proper fibreglass enclosure, 8" mids could fit down there. Man... that would be trick as hell!!! It would mean building your own rocker cover... from scratch... it would be the cool, tho.

Great to have you back! It's been over a year!!!

Thanks for the pic's Andy! IIRC, my only concern last year was that I might tend to kick the speaker grill on the way in/out of the car. Has this ever been a problem for you?

It's great to be back! I'm back for good now!

I don't kick them at all... they are far enough forward...

That's great! Glad you're back!

Those look like the delco base speaker enclosures... my only concern? Most aftermarket 6.5" drivers are mucho deeper.
