I'm a little bit pissed because I spent about a half hour on this already just to have it disappear into the cyber abyss. I guess shit happens. So I'm gonna condense my thoughts.
Married for a year on the second time around, worked on our house we bought and still live in today 25 years later. Drove an S10 pickup. Partied like a fool. My son was 7 years old in 85. I was 30. Worked the midnight shift for a nationally known mail delivery service. Hobbies were informal target shooting and fishing. The 80's were fun for me and I found plenty of trouble while living on the outskirts of Miami. I didn't even have to look for it. It was just there.

I celebrated my 30th birthday, and subsequently couldn't look at tequila for a couple of years afterward.

Lets see, I was moving across country about then driving my
Dodge Mirada with the wickedly fast slant 6. That's about the only exciting thing that happened during '85 IIRC.

Sophomore year of HS. Was dreaming about owning a C4 Corvette. Thinking about girls a lot.

Listening to heavy metal. Was MTV on the air yet??? If it was, I was watching a lot of it.

I watched a lot of G.I. Joe and Transformers with my little brother...

Living in Medina County, Ohio and doing all the family and career stuff. Nothing exciting in 85, not a bad year, not a great year, but overall a good one. My ride at that time was an '84 T-bird Elan, nice car.

Married for 3 years, just had my 2nd kid. It was our 2nd year in our first house. I was repairing MRIs, I was there at the beginning. Worked with Waldo Hinshaw, a very well known MRI physicist.

Those were tough days, but good days.

I too turned 30, been married 10 years, and was working at my first (and only) teaching job (5th and 6th years). We started building the house that we currently live in. And when I say we were building it, that exactly what I meant. I was teaching a carpentry class at the time and with 5 students we started building the house at the beginning of the 85-86 school year. The basement was dug September 17 and we moved in May 9th 1986. Quite a house for five high school kids and a teacher to take on. 3500 sq ft (including the basement) two story house with attached two car garage. It was a truly hectic year. I am still at the same teaching position (we don't have the carpentry program any more) and I am eligible for retirement at the end of this school year.

Wow.... 1985... I was 19 turning 20.

Just got my first real car, a 1981 Toyota Celica GT Coupe. It was red.

I was in college... transitioning from an electro-mechanical major to IT.

I also just started racing RC cars that summer.

Ha! A decade I was alive in!

I was 5. Doing the kind of things 5 year olds do. What does that entail? I don't know. But I was having fun.

Wow, I had just turned 16 and finishing up working on my first car with my dad, a 1968 Pontiac GTO convertible. I had found a Tripower intake from a 65, god I miss that car. MTV was on ALL the time. I loved the 80's. Never gonna have kids, never gonna get married, and lookin' to be a pro funny car driver. Ahhhh, youth.

Pretty much drunk for me... was in College, studied during the day and went to class... usually. Delivered pizzas in the evening for my beer money, played poker after work with everybody until daylight on the weekends.... went on skirt hunts every night I wasn't working at the campus pubs.... honestly don't remember much more, it was a blur in my life.

Had a series of Grand Prix's while growing up, including a 69 with a built-up 400..... at the time we all thought it was fast, it wasn't, but we didn't know it. Life was good....
