A google search brought up a product called 'crystal clear glass polish'. It sounds like this is the best, but before I buy and try I am wondering if anyone has used it?

Crystal Clear has been around since the 60"s. Good stuff. Water spots on windows use straight vinegar. On tough spots soak a paper towel and let set on area.

+1

Glass is a real pain. I never get good results.

Danase Water Spot remover works also works really well, but unfortunately the company went out of business. If you type it in google you may be able to dig up a bottle. Works on paint and glass, really breaks down the deposits well, gets both clean quick.

I've used vinegar,... works well too.

I have also tried a light polish, and a buffer... that gets it off too, but leaves an oily mess on the windows which is a pain to get off.

Good luck

DG

This is not a suggestion but more of a question. What about Lime Away? If it works in the bathroom it should work on the car. I know it's really strong stuff but with careful application and a lot of rinsing it should clean right up I would think.

The distilled white vinegar took care of most of the problem areas. Then I ordered a small bottle of the Crystal Clear and hope that takes care of the rest ot it.
Thanks for the info guys.

I have scraped the windows with a single edge razor blade and some vinegar. Also, lime away will probably work as well. I had some bad spots on my rear hatch that seem to have faded over time and repeated polishing with Zaino glass polish and the razor blade/vinegar routine. The Zaino polish is not really a polish in my opinion as it does not have enough abrasives in it, but you might want to try some abrasive polish on a Porter Cable polisher and see what that gets you.

I don't have to worry about it at all now. This was/is for my son's 04 vert vette. I dropped it off at an auto trim shop to have a new GAHH convertible top put on and while it is there they are going to do a complete detail job on it.
He promised it will look like new whe they are done, we will see.

It all depends on how bad the water spots are. Really hard water will etch the glass, my Silverado's that way. Once the glass is etched, there's not much you can do except take it to a pro and cross your fingers.

Vinegar and Limeaway will remove the spots IF they're just on top of the glass. Peroxide mixed with creme of tarter will also work (works really well on iron (red) stains in your bathtub).

One of the best glass polishes is chrome wheel polish like Mothers, I've been using it for years. It does a very good job.

Hi Guys,

Hard water spots which are caused by calcium deposits can be removed by using a low ph acid cleaner. Lime away is a low ph acid. Just be careful with the paint. Wet the car down and apply the product on a terry towel and wipe the windows. You can then rinse it off with water. Simple green is a Hi ph alkaline cleaner and wont do well on water spots. Although, I have car dealers tell me that our Brown Royal cleaner will remove hard water spots from painted surfaces and glass. I have not tried it, but then again, I dont see severe problems that many of these wholesale car lots see. You can also use vinegar. Hard water spots is a big problem with Florida water. Take care.
