My beloved 1990 ZR1 #74 .... Needed in my opinion
a Audio/Video Upgrade. Here are my results:

First, we built a custom box, so as not to ruin the existing carpet, we just removed it altogether.
(now in storage with all my other ZR1 parts)

We replaced the old bose speakers in the rear hatch area and on the doors, with Top of the line Alpine Speakers,

The Subs, are 10 inch, Alpines powered by a 500 watt
Alpine amp.
Which in this small enclosure is clear and loud enough to cause wax to run from each ear.

The head Unit is a Pioneer AVIC Z2. The head unit and the door and rear side speakers are powered by the other 500 watt amp.
This head unit is awesome to say the least, Navigation, hard drive, that allows you to download you're favorite cd right onto the drive. Backup camera, DVD. Voice activation, you name it, it's pretty much got it. I am tickled shitless.
Loud and very Clean, It bolted right in when the old bose was retired.
When you put the gearbox into reverse the rearview camera turns on, you can also turn it on while moving down the highway, if you wanna see who you are beating. lol
Not cheap, to do, but all in all, Perfect for my needs.

Looks like a very nice, clean install. Who did the work?

Any trimming on the bezel? Some of the in dash DVDs are a tight fit.

Looks like there is still room for the targa in the back?

The targa top will still fit in back,
no cutting of the bezel, head unit fit like it was made for her.
I haul all mulch and stuff with my trailer....lol

acutally, it will hold alot more in the back than you would suspect, last year returning from the gathering, i had
two suitcases, two duffle's, 8 golf clubs...(no bag)
Racing helmet
of course you could not see out the back window,
but i do have a backup camera. (grin)
thanks for the compliments, I know a young fellow locally that used to work for BEST Buy installing custom stuff
he did most of the work, I have also purchased the Ipod
interface, whick will allow me to hook up play and charge my ipod using the head unit.

I love the install!!! Looks SWEET!!!!

But... how does it sound????

I agree, the rear hatch of a C4 has TONS of useable space.

I remember a trip to FL a few years back... had two suit cases, a camera bag, laptop case, RC car stuff and still could cover the hatch with the hatch cover.

Great looking install Keith. Your young friend did a fantastic job.

I like the bow tie and LT5 raised print on the box, in case no one else caught it.

I know I'd be proud to have that system...heck, I'd settle for just the car. LOL.

the sound of the system is awesome, it will play so loud, you don't realize just how loud it is until yours ears start to bleed. it's really clean, actually overkill
i would probably only go with one sub, if i had it to do all over again, but thought i'd keep it all in balance so to speak.

the extra sub won't apply balance, really... just more loud! Subs are omni-directional; that's why one will do just fine.

However, the install is really lovely. You should be very pleased!

Im kind of Curios. The keys in the ignition have a remote key fob. Did you install a GM alarm from a 93 or newer ZR1?
