Sweet..........maybe they'll start a stripper racing class for 84-90 C4s....

Seriously I'd rather see them raced and wrecked than clunked

Why did they do that? Just to make a video? Or did they do tests as they removed parts to see how weight and/or other factors affected the car?

Lighten up guys........ Look what they do to high priced exotics for the movies and TV shows. People do all kinds of strange and offensive behaviors, sometimes involving live animals. That vette was not a garage queen and and was more than likely a less than $3000 money pit. I like Hot Rod Magazine but now I guess they owe me a make-up article on the majesty of the remarkable C4 generation.

Hey Guys,

Hot Rod Magazine is going to be track testing an '85 Corvette on July 12 and we are in need of a spare set of STOCK wheels for the car. We'll stick new tires on them and give them back to the owner. There should be a pretty decent amount of new tread left on the tires when we are done.
Anyone from socal feel like loaning out a set? send me an email if you do. Thanks!

Oh yeah, we are also looking for a stock electric fan for the car.

I learned a while back about damageing a car, to gain advertisement wasn't really a good idea...

I had advertised on the smashmyviper.com website, it was a pixel ad page, like the million dollar homepage. I thouhgt wow these 2 young guys want to start a buisness and need funding, and so one of them is putting his viper up to get it, by basically allowing people to buy and add and pay to damage the car. They did pretty well at the start, but it didn't take off... they didn't sell very many adds. but I realized afterwards, this was really negative publicity for the business... So I do regret signing up for it. Even though I respect their idea.

I wonder what the reaction of the HOT ROD or Mopar crowd would be if they had done that to, say a '70 Coronet R/T, a not particularly attractive body style, but a muscle car none the less.

I don't have a problem with them reducing the car in order to lighten it for the track for whatever test/article/special they want to do. But the way they did it is tacky and low class.

Took it from a 15.x to a low 13 IIRC

I could have used a few of those parts tho....

I've offered them a challenge, lets see if they bite

Quote:
Tell ya what, your REAL racers right?

I've spent 3 years building my car up, it's finally coming together.

You want to race?

You want to go head-to-head?

Your monstrosity against mine built with the best of the best.

It's a true test

Hack street rod against everything that can done RIGHT with the car.

Then you'll find out what you've really accomplished.

It's laughable. The Hot Rod magazine guy is trolling for wheels "to save a buck". But they destroy that Vette. Some of the parts they sawsall'ed off could have been removed and sold.

Eh, one less C4 means mine is a little more rare.

This quote alone made me register on this board, I cannot stop laughing, c4's make terrible track cars, even if you stuff 315's in the front the car and throw double adjustable's in it, the car still plows. This article will show how you can actually make a C4 fast on track, which means pretty much getting rid of everything on the car because it was designed in the 70's.

Funny seeing the whole C4 community rage about the whole thing, Hot Rod made a interesting article that I guarantee will sell more magazines, even if you throw a huge hissy fit about it. Also there would be no increase in hot rod subscriptions if they did a "build" on a C4, you act as if the C4 community is massive and continually growing, which it is not and in fact its decreasing(everybody wants to upgrade to C5/C6's get over it).

To David Freiburger,
Keep up the good work, love the magazine.
