So my Nakamichi CD400 has become very finicky what CDs it will play.. sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries before it plays.. sometimes it will not play any.. they load then eject due to an error or something.

I knew this was an issue with these units, and mine lasted for a while..

Looking to put the OEM unit in as a temp solution and have the CDM feed to the Amp. I am also debating on switching to a 2-way passive system until I can get another amp as well.. I have time to decide as the FM radio still works. Not sure what the issue is with the nak..

Ah well..

What year vette?

I have a eonon 821 in mine. I think i posted my writeup. I am very happy with it. I have a 2GB SD card in it with my favorite music and rarely carry CDs or my ipod anymore.

Oh and 60w per channel sounds damn nice compared to the 45w I had

When I replace my Alpine 7998, it will be an Eclipes 7200 Mk2.

Do you just want a cheap pioneer to fill the hole until you can get it fixed? Let me know.

Matt, thanks for the offer, but If I swap it i will try out the stock HU first.

I really like the Nak, although an old school Eclipse ECD-413,414,415,416 would be nice too.

but today the MP3 adapter to connect my phone (Droid) would be nice, but not sure how much I would use that function.

I have a AUX connector on the Nak, but don't have it wired currently. I think I bought the Nak in 2003 or 2004 (used) so it has lasted for quite a while

OEM HU is in the car and it does nto sound too bad, seems a bit louder then the NAK, but then I have not adjusted the gains yet.

I am also going to step down to a 2-way component set-up from the 3-way partly due to being a bit short on power..

only thing that sucks is I cannot figure out how to skip FWD and REV on the tracks for the CD.. I can FF and REV the audio, but not skip tracks

I've never used the stock unit. Can you just press the forward button briefly to skip a track and hold it down for a longer period to search through the song?

nope.. tried that I did get an answer, just need to try it

Quote:
Actually, "SCAN" is supposed to play the first 8 seconds of each track. "SRCH" skips to the next track. "REPT" goes to the beginning of the previous track if less than 10 seconds into the current track, after 10 seconds, it goes to the beginning of the current track.

I called abotu the CD400 to get repaired.. $50 to just look at it.. if it needs the Laser pick up then $175 to fix it.

It closely matches the Dash color, although for about $300 I could get a Nak MBVI 6 disc in-dash changer

sound is decent too.. guess I will keep this for a while, just need to change a few things to allow for the newer door panels..

LOL just reading this old thread.. I swapped back to the NAK, but it take 5-6 tried to get it to take a CD.. Ugh

May as well put it on the list of things to get replaced now.. considering reinstalling the stock headunit again, I mean it seems to work fine connected to the amps and all..

Guess I will wait until winter to decide exactly what I will do
