So I bought a red on red 1980 L82 car The horn button is not right, it fell off after the horn starts honking while turning. Anybody have a diagram of how this thing is supposed to go back together so the horn works correctly ? The previous owner put a new steering wheel on it and there lies the problem, hack...

With a light tug on the bottom of the wheel, does the whole column move slightly down and to the left or right?

dunno yet....., the horn button fell off and there's shit moving around though, if you play move the metal pieces around the horn will sound.... I'll check it tomm. and see if the whole thing is moving.

Sounds like something's grpunding in there. That's all that happens when you push down on the horn button, the button makes a ground contact which energizes the horn relay.
If something's loose in the upper column/wheel, it may be an easy fix.

Yeah it's one of two places. Upper wheel assembly that's easy to get to. Hopefully that's all it is. I've dealt with a harder fix before, where some of the plastic sleeves in the column had cracked from too much pulling on the wheel...like how older folks get in and out of their Vettes...and the wire was pinched and grounding out when the column had pressure put on it.

Upper column is easy, the other requires a rebuild, with a lot of hard to find parts and patience.
