I started with an 84 I had and a Z06 model my brother in law gave me. -=Jeff=- came to the rescue with some ZR-1 wheels to finish the look for now. I plan on adding the hood scoop later. Now I have an LS powered C4 model to match my real one. BTW it was way easier building the little one.

I still need to figure out how to lower the front of the car and keep everthing working up there. The new parts I got for the wheels makes it sit up some in the front.

So tell us about the LS engine that is in your car. How hard was the conversion and what is a cost estimate on something like that? This might be old news to some of these guys but this is first time I have seen it.

I like it!

Well I bought a package deal of three motors and used all of them to make one good one. It's got a cam, ported throttle body headers and a tune. Other than that it's stock. Greg at Anti Venom assembled the motor for me. I did all the work on the swap in my garage.
As for the effort involved for someone familar with LS motors it wouldn't be bad at all. I on the other hand had no knowledge on them so I had lots of questions. Piecing together all the needed things was the worse part. For price, the car was on the cover and featured in Vette Magazine last year as a budget brawler. I've got right at 5 grand in the swap. Not a typical price as again I did all the work myself and got some screaming deals on parts. Mine was also made easier in the sense that I already had analog gauges in my car so I didn't have to intagrate the digital dash.

Would I do it again? In a heartbeat!! Truth be told I'm itching to do another. I've got lots of great ideas that would make it so much better than what I did before. I recently bought a 2000 WS6 and plan on using that engine to build a nasty little street motor to take the place of this one and this one will end up in a Studebaker I'm building.

Any more questions just ask, I'd be happy to answer them.

What motor mounts did you use and did you have to do any custom fabrication to the right side header? I looked over a 1995 Corvette LS transplant at my car show last year and he had to have a custome header made for the right side and had to find different motor mounts. Just curious, that would be cool to have an LS3 in a C4

An LS3 is my dream motor but my dreams are bigger than my wallet.
On the motor mounts I used the plates from Speedhound and my stock mounts and frame mounts. Pretty much a bolt in. That did cause the motor to sit forward a little so I had to slot the C-beam holes. On the headers Melrose makes a great header, they bolt right up no issues tons of clearance. They fit as nice as the ones I had for my L-98. Now I didn't use the stock LS ac set up, I haven't even looked to see if it would fit. I'm going with and aftermarket air system. I could see the need for a custom set up if you used the stock ac compressor.

Nice work! What kind of HP does it make? Your shop looks nice and neat also. That's worrisome!

I've not dynoed it and probably won't untill I put the 6 speed in it. With the 3600 stall coverter and no ability to lock it up in 3rd it wouldn't show any good numbers anyway. Right now it just has a street tune on it.
As for the garage that was a long fight. I used to have a real problem keeping it clean but I now devote a day of clean up during big projects.

Hey guys, if you knew him as long as I have you would have a new respect for his clean garage. :-)
I remember the days when he was beginning doing things like this. With this build he has become the type of guy people like me come to so we can do our builds.
In case your wondering, he is my brother and I am damn proud of him.
Keep going, also, thanks for all the help on my project so far

Use a hobby knife and glue, just like how you lower the full size one.

Hey Raidmagic, wasn't your car the feature/cover car for the October 2010 issue of "Vette" magazine? I have that issue! That's your car!! Beautiful job on both the 1:1 and the 1:25!

Car modeling has been a passion of mine for as far back as I can remember. I was away from the hobby for many years, but got back into it a few years ago. Like you, they never made an exact kit of my '92 coupe, so I made one myself: http://cs.scaleautomag.com/SCACS/forums/p/99230/939475.aspx#939475.

I've had some good luck at local model contests with these two as well:

You do some nice work, Ron! Got any more pics to share?

I have a profile on the SA site, but I can't seem to login to it. But I have been posting a little on the Model Cars forum - I just like the forum layout better for some reason. And I don't have a bunch, but feel free to check out my model car pics.

Hey thanks Trae! The only othe rbuild that I've completed recently was this '69 Hurst Olds: http://cs.scaleautomag.com/SCACS/forums/p/60746/660561.aspx#660561.

That was the first build that I completed after about 25 years or so away from the hobby. A few years ago, I bought a spray booth, an airbrush and compressor, a whole bunch of tools and just kinda' went nuts with it. I like to take my time with a project, so I only complete maybe one or two builds a year. With each build, my skills get better and better. I was checking out your builds and a nearly flipped when I saw the "Green Monster"! 'Vettes, Chevies, GM muscle and anything drag racing are my favorite build subjects.

I also see that you're the president of the Corvette Club of Northeast Tennnessee. Just last fall, I became webmaster for my club: http://www.crownpointvettes.org. On the main page in the club officers photo, I'm the "little" guy all the way to the left. I bet being in the Smoky Mountains, you guys have some pretty spectacular places to cruise!

Take care,

Ron
