I recently took my 98 convertible out of winter storage and the battery was somewhat discharged so I charged it up and used it for a day with no problems but the next day the battery was completely discharged.I charged it up again and found that the DIC and the dimmer control switch are staying illuminated at all times (not full brightness-they will get brighter if I switch the headlights on).I started pulling fuses to see if any would shut these lights off and found that fuse 25 " body control module-ignition 1,instrument panel control" would shut them off.(pulling fuse#6 for inst. panel lights did not shut them off)I am thinking that either the BCM or IPC need to be reprogrammed(or hopefully not replaced).I am giving all modules more than enough time to go into sleep mode.I even left the battery disconnected for a few days to see if a module needed to relearn.Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks very much for any advice.

Welcome to the site!

If pulling that fuse turns off the DIC light, sounds like the BCM might be involved, since that's where the delay timer is controlled through. I am not an expert with C5 electrical, though. Did you check for any codes? Is the BCM communicating without issue? Any other electrical problems?

Someone with more C5 know-how should chime in soon.

I will try to get a wiring diagram to look at, but here is my initial thoughts.

Start with testing the headlight switch first. It sounds like it has a short, and is feeding the DIC. If possible check for any voltage at a marker light. It may not be enought to illuminate it. Hopefully I can get a diagram tomorrow.

Here are a few diagrams. I hope they are big enough to read.

Good job, TJ. I didn't know the DIC was fed through the headlight switch. That's the best place to start, I'd say
