I am posting this now to gauge interest and get people thinking.

Sebring 2012 - the 60th running, sounds to me like the perfect place to have our first national Guru Gathering.

To give you all an idea of ticket prices, we paid $265.00, for 2 people, for our four-day Corvette Corral passes. This includes parking for the Corral, or, if you don't have a Vette, the overflow/general parking areas. If you want North Paddock parking, that is $75.00.

In 2011, a 4-day super ticket was $100.00, general parking is $25.00.

There are other options, and as we get closer, I will post them. Tickets for the race won't go on sale until January, and there is a discount for early purchase.

This year, the Corral included:

* Exclusive Corral Parking
* Meet/Greet/Autograph Session with the drivers & Corvette Racing and GM execs
* Judged Car Show
* Parade Laps
* QA from Corvette Racing, Michelin, Mobil 1 & Ron Fellows
* Various drawings for prizes, including hot pit and pace lap
* Snacks and drinks for all four days, plus lunch on Saturday
* Big shady/dry place hospitality tent, with tables and chairs (this alone almost worth it!)
* Two big screen TVs to watch the race/qualifying/practice/whatever

Corral Schedule from IMSA

Here is a starting point for hotels:

http://www.sebringraceway.com/accomodations.lasso

Additional towns in the region:

* Lake Placid
* Avon Park
* Wachula
* Arcadia
* Winter Haven

All are within 40 miles of Sebring.

Guru related events will be discussed as we get closer!

Excellent idea, Andy.

Probably wouldn't work for me though.

Now, IF you ever get to Laguna.....

If you are considering going, I HIGHLY suggest you book your hotel at the end of April 2011 when the calender opens up for March of 2012. Hotels get scarce rapidly and you will find yourself commuting 40-60 miles or staying in a rat hole.

Jeff is right. I was just doing some surfing... The big hotel at the track is booked.

The Marriott is booked. La Quinta isn't open for reservations online yet...

Lakeland is open, about 50 miles north. Same with Davenport/Haines City (the I-4/US 27 interchange).

I was just thinking... if everyone could get rooms in Davenport, it is about 50 miles away, but it is an EASY drive down, that could work. Then that crew could have a nice caravan down 27 to the track each day.

Camping or bringing an RV is also an option. They have a nice big bath house where you can shit, shower and shave. My guess is if you used it early you'd beat all the late rising, head hurting, hungover party animals. Or you could go three days without a shower or sink bath. That would be interesting. You could eat polish sausage for breakfast lunch and dinner or if your a do it yourselfer, cans of vienna sausages. Uummmm. You could also buy a clown costume or other leftover item from The Halloween Store, wear it at the races and nobody would blink an eye. The possibilities are endless.

That would be fun, not quite as much fun as I remember the Bog at Watkins Glen was but still fun,

Well... the bog at Sebring has been long since shut down... and the bonfire, the same way.

I think at one time they tried to contain the bog, make just one and let ppl have fun with that, but it was hard to manage.

I really hate safety NAZIs...

I thought you guys were talking about going to Sebring not Sturgis......and what about Indian Taco's? I ain't going if they don't have Indian Tacos and Hangover soup. The soup works just don't ask what's in it.

They had the National Guard at Watkins one year.

BTW, I might be in one of those pics.

Tix are on sale!! Discount prices until January 31, 2012. Check www.sebringraceway.com for details. I highly suggest getting a Paddock Parking pass... it's pricey, but allows you to drive anywhere on the track grounds, well, most anywhere. Very handy.

Hotel... that's going to be a bit of an issue, and an individual solution. All hotels in Sebring are taken; that's a given.

Avon Park (10 miles north) and Lake Placid (15 miles south) are possibles...

I will check and come up with a list of places within 40 miles of Sebring. Winter Haven is a good shot, too...

Hurray!

Where are you all staying this time?

We should all be at the track on Thursday. Bastet and I are coming in from JAX, and we should be to the track by 2pm or so. KPotter is coming in from Davenport and should be there by about 10am or 11am. Tommy is coming from Homestead, and I have no clue when he plans on leaving!

I am debating on renting a golf cart.

Thursday night in Winter Haven, Friday & Saturday nights in Sebring. We should be @ the track Thursday afternoon. We have passes for the Audi & Corvette Corrals. You should get a cart if you still can, money well spent.

This is what I look like. I frequent the turn before the pit straight, between the Corvette and Porsche Corrals. Don't know how the access will be this year but I'm gonna find out. I'm the guy on the right. I have a sun bleached ponytail. Can't miss it. Come and introduce yourself.
