These are some basic ideas I am working with so far.

You see, I like the current graphic, it just isn't readable by some people. I like the distinctiveness, but at the same time, if it can't be read, what is the point?

So... simplify. I don't want to use a "Corvette" font, because that will pigeon-hole us into one generation or the other. So that's out.

These uploads are where I am so far. Logo 1 is coloured in, not as a final, but conceptually to show some colour options as I move forward. Also, whatever is picked here will become the big vinyl sticker everyone has been clamoring for!

Ok... thoughts??? Other ideas???

Note, the dash is gone... I have that domain now.

At some point, that domain will become our home; but not until we flush out our software needs.

I will state my preference now: #3. I like the look, easy to read and vaguely familiar - either that font, or ones much like it, were common ad copy in the 60s and 70s. So it has a certain familiarity about it.

hey Bogus about the first font but getting rid of the red. i like the font not much on the bold letters. the 1st one is a little different and that would make a good rear window sticker which I would be more than happy to put on the 92.

No more dash? I thought that made it easier to read.

Anyway, not to be a kiss-ass but I like #3 also I think it would be easier to read on the back window of a car. I hate it when I'm behind someone and they have a website on there but I can't read it.

By people that can't read? What is unclear about it? Those others look cheap, like you had a 5 minute time limit to produce a sticker. A faded or multicolor background limits your options for stickers.

I like No. 3 and Kevin's script font... BTW Kevin, what is that font? I have tried several retro fonts for my club to get close to the original 1956 font our club used.

I also sent you some ideas way back when you were setting things up here. I'll have to look for them, but I liked them back then.

I like CC's the best. I can read it easier with the caps and regular letters and the .com smaller. Send me some for the back window. Not to large please.

People are familiar with the old chevy script, but the "guru" part might not be clear.

This is better:

this is magneto font, with a few minor changes. There's a few other classic fonts that I don't have.

Am I the only one who likes our current font?

I do like Kevin's, very retro. Also 1 and 3, definitely no to 2.

You are all not reading what I type.

This is the new logo... not just for the window but for the site in general. The red was to show a potential graphical use, not a decal use. If I wasn't clear, sorry.

And yes, Kevin... how long does it take to type www.corvetteguru.com three times? Pick a font and go with it.

I need more fonts, apparently.

"www" is defacto for a website. But it isn't required.

Here is the readibility problem... put our current logo on a sloping rear window at some 70 degrees... how easy is that to read?

The dash is a pain as far as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is concerned. Not many big sites succeed with a dash in them.

As I said, I don't dislike this font, it is just hard for people to read.

Magneto was one font I thought of... but every 50s/60s hot rod site uses it. Not unique, really.

The old Chevy script is like the old Corvette script... to old, so ppl won't associate us with new and my just blow by. I don't want to use a new Corvette font, because then we may alienate the older car owner. Hense the generic non-GM font.

Lemme revisit.

And thanks to you all for the input. I really appreciate it.

Check out these. I took some of Kevin's ideas and some other input and created these.

I also created examples of how the text looks compressed into a square graphic.

Thanks!

I still like mine better despite your reasons. Haven't seen it used everywhere, but if it is, it's because it looks bitchen. You say old, I say timeless. Let's face it, most Corvette fans are hotrod fans and old farts, or young farts.

I only mentioned the www because of the sticker part. On the original logo, imo, the only thing that may get us old farts would be the G. IMO also, I like the more cursive fonts, kinda more representing the vette. Just my opinion. This newbie shall now bow out. Mark

our club has used the Magneto Font for about seven or eight years. The original logo from 1956 used the original Corvette Script, but that was before "Fonts" as we know them. We had guys hand paint the logo on signs etc. I wasn't even born then! LOL

My opinion only:

Most often I see a web site advertized on:
- TV
- vehicle
- billboard
- magazine
- newspaper
- junk mail
- etc, etc.

It's the coming WAVE in all 'advertizing', plain to see. It's 'busy' right now....it'll only get worse. A LOT worse.

Personally, it's ALL about REMEMBERING the address for me. I'll see an interesting website and I'll:

1) easily commit it to memory. or......
2) write it down. OR...
2) laugh at the complexity of the spelling and tell myself "I'll NEVER remember THAT." And promptly forget it.

Personally, if we truly want to market the site....it's NOT about what looks 'good'.

It's all about REMEMBERING.

Remembering 12 hours after you've seen it when you're actually at your computer and trying to recall (or not driving and on your iPhone, whatever)

When I read this thread the only thing that really concerned me was our market remembering the 'guru' part of the address. Everyone KNOWS the word 'corvette'....but remembering 'guru' is perhaps difficult. Capitalizing the 'G' helps an awful lot.

Just my personal opinion though.

No Matt, you're not the only one who likes the current font. I think that the Arts and Crafts font is very distinctive. My vote is to keep the current font. Although, I know what my vote is worth.

yuck... used the wrong bare... bear with me!

Ok... the wait is nearly over!

My latest idea. The color is mostly for jpg, image all letters white when cut in vinyl.

White letters show the best on glass. The natural tint of glass makes any other color, short of silver, vanish in the light and shadows.

Remember, the two color is a possible usage online only. In vinyl, it would be all white.
