My dad was Army Air Corps, 8th Air Force, England, 1943-1945. He fixed P-51s.

My Uncle Paul was an RAF navigator, died when his bomber was shot down during the Norway campaign, 1940.

My brother Paul was 4F. He was born with a bad foot.

My brother Roy enlisted in the Air Force, in 1969, but was discharged shortly after for vision reasons.

I thought about military service, but with bad knees, they didn't wanna talk to me.

Good luck with your dreams!! Aviation is long hours of boredom punctuated by moments of stark terror. I wouldn't have done it any differently.

Glad to hear. I have mixed emotions about (if I make it) to go either apache or blackhawk. I like to be able to blow stuff up but I would also like to fly other missions. Apache pilots train all the time because of the differant systems onboard. My biggest concern is I love time with my family and if I go apache that will interfere with that time.

Col, that reminds me of an intresting conversation I overheard with a 130 driver.

Newsguy- so how do you slow it down on those short landings?

pilot- we use brakes and we change the pitch on the props.

Newsguy- really, you guys can change the pitch on the props?!?

Pilot-yep

Newsguy- can you reverse pitch while flying?

Pilot- sure, but just once.

I'm an Army brat. My father retired a 1SG in 1973. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a helicopter flight simulator instructor - Blue Canoe, Huey, and Apache. Retired again after 20 years Civil Service for a total of 40 years service.

The Apache flight simulator was cool!

I wanted to join up, but the military wouldn't take me with my health issues. :sad7:

I have been at bragg for 13 of my 14 years in service, I used to run Ardenes alot back in my 82nd days, now I stay away from that road when I run.

I am currently deployed and I stumbled on this C4guru site during my many searches for vette troubleshooting. there is a bunch of good info here. Now I can't wait to get back to my car and get it running.

Wow, I could not imagine being at one base that many years. I actually like moving around alot. Every time we move we get rid of alot of excess junk. Stay safe over there!
