I know you guys have been wondering if I'd ever find a car but we did and just got home with it.

I'm making this a place holder thread for pics.

It's not everything I wanted but it is a good solid car. Runs good, drives good, and looks good. No rust frame, solid body mounts and bird cage.

1979, L48 auto.

New Van Steel calipers, pads, lines, master cyl kit.
New 3.55 rear end from Fast Vette in TX.
New Ujoints though out.
Adjustable rear strut rods.
New KYB shocks.
Fiberglass 340# rear spring.
2 rebuilt rear trailing arms.
New Wilcox T Top weatherstrip/seals.
New dark green pearl paint.

What it needs:
Interior work completed. Kind of a half ass job of converting green to black interior that the PO started. There are some really cheap seat covers that got to go and surprisingly the orginal seats look OK underneath. The seat bucket shells need to be rehabbed. The door panels were dyed black and look like crap. All new black carpet.... I'm gonna take a few days and hash out what it's gonna cost to go all black (the right way) v/s back all green.

The blower motor only runs on one speed and the AC while all there does not work.

Wheels need to be polished out. The car has the optional alum wheels and they are not pitted or curbed... They just look dull and need new center caps. Anybody know if they are bare alum or clear coated??

Engine leaks oil and it looks like the f'n rear main.... I need to get under it and see how bad it really is.

Engine has Edlebrock 2101 Performer intake, aftermarket cheap chrome rocker covers and air cleaner.... the intake I don't mind too much (at least it still has the Q Jet on it). Since it has been mess with already I would like to put L82 rocker covers and the stock factory dual snorkel air cleaner assy on it. Of course it's missing the plastic cold air parts over the fan shroud as well. That stuff ought to be fun (and expensive) to find.

And that's it. Still has the single cat exhaust (Dynomax super turbo rear section). The car runs great has surpising power - espc compared to my 76... Must be the 3.55 gears.

I'll take some pics and post them tomorrow after work.
Will

Sweet!

May I suggest a slightly different tack for the interior?

I saw this on a Ferrari 355 and it was striking. Keep the green! Since the outside is dark green, and most cars had some form of two tone, leave what was black, dark green, perhaps alcantara type of a material.

Same with the carpets, dark dark green.

The seats and doors, very light creme or off white. Accent with a light pastel green - stitching, things like that.

Done right, that could be very stunning.

All I did was wash it. No wax or buffing on the paint yet.

Looks better in pics than it really is - I mean you can't see all the little paint flaws, fiberglass cracks, ect.... but I think with a little work it's going to make a nice driver.

I drove it to work today (couldn't resist) and got to sit in traffic for about 20 mins on the way home. No problems, car ran great. Althou no AC on 100*F day is some serious BS.

I know what your talking about, and no doubt I think it would look good - but I think she would rather just have it back stock looking.

From what I can tell no matter what I do, go back all green or go all black it's gonna cost me about $1800 (using synth seat covers) to fix the interior up right. Real leather seats are gonna be about 250-300 more....

I'm $7000 into the car as it sits. Over the next year or so I figure an additional 3-5K to fix stuff. So 10-12K into it (total) isn't too bad.

Congrats, Will.

I'd think you should be able to tell if the wheels are cleared by looking for stone chips. Or just hit them with some alum polish, polishing a clearcost won't turn the rag black, aluminum will.

Looks good, Will! How about a tan interior with that green paint?

Looks like a real nice driver. I like the green interior, but whichever way you decide to go, it will be fine.
