OK guys, I know there aren't many C5 guys here, but I thought this would be a good pass along.
A week or so ago I purchased a kit from Double D which allows the attaching of an Ipod into the regular head unit on the C5. The unit I purchased was the PXDP/PXHGM2. http://shop.doubledmods.com/Periphera ... Adapter-peripipodghm2.htm I received my package from Double D yesterday. Today I let the Corvette down and decided to give the installation a go. The first thing I did was remove the 12 disk CD changer. I then added a velcro strip to the back of the little PXDP box (about the size of a pack of cigarettes, give or take). Then I routed the Ipod plug-in cable from the rear storage compartment under the carpet and into the console area. Then I grabbed the PXHGM2 cable plugged the one end of it into the PXDP box (only one way to put it in) and plugged the other end into the existing wiring harness (the end I unplugged from the changer). DONE. I then turned on the key and pushed the Aux button on the head unit and my Ipod tunes came rolling out. The fast forward, rewind, Next and Back buttons on the head unit control the Ipod....cool. If you have the changer in your C5, this mod is very easy and quick to do. Sorry no pictures, but I can maybe get some of the finished install later. |

I have a CD changer in my C4, does that count?
Isn't it great (and somewhat unusual) when you get something that's plug-n-play (that actually works) AND aftermarket (that actually works with no mods) ? |

My son did the same thing, then went back later and did the double din mod from Dennis. That works a whole lot better and had the navigation, blue tooth and all the rest of the latest stuff.

Not sure Bill, that might not work.
Yes, it is refreshing to have a product that works like it's supposed to, simple to install and is reasonably priced. 95, Maybe in the future I'd consider that as well. Right now, I'm very pleased with this upgrade. |

Matt, go to the double d link that teebee posted and you will see everything Dennis offers. FYI - he is now doing double din mod kits for the C4 as well. |

I purchased this same adapter, but have not installed it yet. Have a couple of questions for you. 1- Is it necessary to COMPLETLEY remove the 12 disc player? 2= Is there anyway you can show or discribe how you ran the cable up into the center consule?? 3- Do you have to turn on / off the iPod everytime you start / shut off car?? |

Hey Taz, thanks for joining up. If these older threads don't get updated as fast feel free to send a PM or even start your own thread. This one is a tad old and maybe hasn't gotten any re-reads.

Sorry Taz, I guess I'm not subscribed to this thread. I'll try to answer your questions.
1. No it's not completely necessary to remove the changer, but it is disabled for use when you attach the box. I have ALL my music on my Ipod, so there is no use for the changer. 2. Hummmm, I simply ran the wire under the carpet and pad, straight up the middle of the storage area, over the "lip" behind the seat, under the console (remove the console) up to the front, and brought it back in the console from the front and laid the "pigtail" in the console area. Not real sure if this explains it very well or not. 3. 95Vette answered this one for you. Nice thing is it interfaces with the head unit and charges the Ipod. |

No problem, if I can answer any specific questions, let me know. It truly was pretty straight forward. Lift the carpet up and run the cable under there, under the console and then into it.
I have since bought an "XM Skydock" which interfaces with the ipod and allows the use of XM radio as well. With the Skydock I can either listen to satellite radio or music on the ipod. It also charges the Ipod. No affiliation with the ad, just for info. http://compare.ebay.com/like/32075717 ... edPriceItemTypes&var=sbar |
