Just a few things with this 'new to me' '02....
The passenger side headlight jiggles. Body shop friend has messed with it and thinks I'll need a new assembly or whatever in there. Seriously? There a way to fix that for now?
Also, on the dash when you start the car, his '06 lets him program what it says, but mine only says 'Corvette by Chevrolet' or something like that. Can I change it?
And, there's been a cam added (288/588) but stock stall left. Suggestions?

This threasd from CF might help on the HL issue, particularly response #17:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-te ... -shakes-will-driving.html

Depending upon the lope in the cam the stock convertor might be OK.

I have looked and I don't think you can reprogram the start up wording on a C5. TB might know I'm thinking. How does the car drive and run down the road?

The car runs good, very different from what I 'm used to. The faster I go the lighter it feels. In the C4, the faster I went the more it seemed to squat and grab the pavement. Cornering is different as well. The cam is nice, but it does need that low end. It's supposed to get tuned sometime in the next few days. Getting the seat rebuilt this week. Also, got a "kit" that's supposed to fix that seat 'sliding' issue I've heard about from others. We'll see if that works.

That was introduced on the 2005's, Letty.

At least it doesn't say "Buckle Your Seatbelt" .

Ah geez, I guess I hadn't heard about a seat sliding issue on these cars....Mine don't but they may have been worked on already. I am sure a little old man owned my car and only drove it to church and back....hmmmmm..he must have gone to church a lot because the car had 75K on it when he got his new one....

According to the car fax I got with the car at 26K the Body Control Module was replaced and replaced again at 28K miles. That was all on warranty but I think the module cost 1300 bucks.....now I just need to figure out what that module does.....

damn, I want to change mine. Surely there's a way to hack that.
I've heard about the seat sliding issue from a few people and supposedly there was a warranty fix for it, not sure. A friend has a Z06 and his is doing it also.

You can get the Helm manual for these things off ebay for chump change. It's all on a DVD now! Like $30 for 1998-2010.

Congrats on the new ride! I hope it works out for you. My biggest fear of the C5 is all the modules that can pop... and cost... same rules apply, make sure grounds are good and clean!

Yes they are starting to get older and racking up some miles so maybe more and more issues will come to light. Overall I think they have been dependable to this point.

I did learn that the dreaded Column Lock issues do not involve cars made from 2001 to 2004.

The seat rocking issue is common, both my seats were that way at 56k miles. There are kits available with nylon washers to fix them, or you can do like I did and buy some nylon washers at Lowes and make them square to fit. I think there is a pictorial how to online somewhere.....I remember seeing it. Anyway, if anyone decides to do it themselves, let me know and I'll tell you the steps as I remember them. We (Trae and I) did mine in a couple hours.

And the Column Lock thing, in my experienced opinion, is not nearly the terrible problem that one would think by reading threads on the CF. Teebee helped point me in the right direction when I had issues with mine, and as it turned out, the only issue I had was trying to avoid the problem!

Enjoy the new ride......and let's see some pics!
