Just Dyno'd , but darn we wanted 520+ HP. Maybe after a few adjustment we'll get there , anyhow she has:

Scat rotating assembly with 5.7 rods
Probe flat top pistons
Brodix heads
Solid Custom Cam (secret)
9:1 comppression

Blueprinted & Balanced.

I think after playing with the valve adjustment we'll hit our mark. Gonna close up the clearance.

Sounds pretty stout. What is the torque and what did it peak at, how did the power curve look?

Is that a pretty big solid cam? How does it idle, what will street manners be?

I'll post numbers at a later time.

Right now we are resetting the valve lash from int@.026/ex@.030 to int.@ .018/ex@ .021 & bumping up the ign. timing to to see wat we get.

Final numbers...
518 HP/438.1 Torque @ 6,200 RPM.

I'm leaving it there , close enough.
Gotta run 2200 stall converter
Medium idle, fender rocker

Maybe a carb swap now... we'll see??

I gave Andy a Blue Print form that I use to help obtain these results.
He/ You are welcome to use this to assist in a bit better engine build . I am sure that form can be improved upon too.

Question - Why the 9.0:1 SCR? That is a very stout rotating assembly and even a .25 to .75 bump in compression would net huge gains with what I assume to be a very versatile cam profile.

His plan was to build a reliable low compression short block, then play with different cc heads & different gasket later.

It's a good plan for sure, and quite amazing that the goals were reached with it. As long as that's what he wanted and he's happy with his results. I wonder though, since HP is a disease, if he'll kick himself later for not building a 9.50:1 or 9.75:1...which would give him the ability to reach to higher goals.

I have gone over your build sheet... I will be honest, if there is a need to improve, I don't see it.

Any more info would just get to being too much, and the numbers you ARE recording seem to be the ones that matter the most.

Short of recording head specs into the document... but this is a build sheet, not a spec sheet.

That is a very impress level of power for a 9:1 compression motor! Very good work.

There was some mention of compression ratio, having huge gains to a bump of half a point in compression or so. There would be some gains, but I don't think it would be huge. And I think you could get that with just a swap to a steel shim head gasket probably.

I think being able to obtain that horsepower goal without having to buy the expensive gas is a very good idea. Good job!

Thanks Bearcat! He has not changed a thing on it. He remains content the way it is, except for the nitrous ;)
