CorvetteBob Will I need different injectors?

I'm getting ready for some mods to my '88 L98 Vette. These include
GM Hotcam
Afr 195 Streetport heads
1.6 Roller Rockers

I already have a Super Ram intake,
1-5/8 Tri-y longtube headers
Flowmaster cat back
Of course I'll be getting a tune for it.
The car has the OEM injectors and it's only got 27,xxx miles on it.
I'm wondering if I'm gonna need new/better injectors for this thing when I'm done.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Bob....yes, you'll need bigger injectors. I'll have to check some numbers later for what that motor is estimated at as far as hp. That's basically what you'll use to determine injector size.

Thanks Matt. I figured I'd need them, but quite often I replace stuff for the purpose of, "being sure." This time I want to make sure it runs right rather than just satisfying my usual need to, "make sure."

I am betting that FIC will recommend 32 lb hr injectors.

32's sounds kinda big.
I'm certainly not knowledgeable on this topic, but I figured it'd probably be around 24's. I'm not increasing displacement, no power adders, or anything too awfully radical. I guess we'll have to see what FIC has to say if they chime in on this.

Bob - I am assuming that is about a 350-400 hp motor depending on various factors. I'll call it 375 in the middle. Using 375 hp, .50 for brake specific fuel consumption and .80 for duty cycle you end up with 29.47 lb injectors. I seem to recall people running similar combos in the past with 26 lb injectors. I don't necessarily think bigger is better, it changes the pulse width, etc.

My suggestion is check with the tuner you are using and see their recommendation, as they have more experience with that than I do.

That's why you should sell me your superram so you have the cash to buy the injectors

SUre Matt! For the right amount, it'll come with a low mileage '88 attached and have all sorts-o-goodies with it!

(I know I'm not the brightest light on the tree, but I can't seem to find the list of smilies here on the Guru.)

Change the "plain text" option to "DHTML Form" and you'll see the smiley box.

I love my 24 lb BOSCH IIIs on my MILDY modded L98. Best thing I ever did and have not looked back. Stocks were 22 but I had the ECM tuned for 24s and not a single problem yet. Runs a hell of a lot better than with the facotry ones. They were just worn out.

On another note, the IIIs are alot quiter compared to the facotry injectors. No annoying TICK TIC TICK.

As it turned out I contacted Alvin at PCMforless and he made a recommendation. They're a set of 30lb'ers and they're sitting ion the garage as we speak. Thanks for the help guys!

And by the way, thanks to guru forum vendor Fuel Injector Cconnection for the good price and quick delivery.

30s are what I run. I think you'll do just fine with those.
