The only reference to rear axle fluid change that I can find in the FSM is under "Recommended fluids and lubricants", page OB-13. It states "Rear axle gear lube 80w90...12oz. and gear lube additive... 12oz.
Well 12oz.+12oz.=24oz., but to fill the diff. up to the fill hole takes about 52oz. which is what I did. All I can figure is maybe they were trying to increase MPG slightly by reducing the friction caused by more fluid. Also I never heard of putting 12oz. of LS additive in. I used two, 4oz. bottles which is generally regarded as overkill. Am I missing something? |
