Electrical Problem 68
Guest_
Need help! The wiper O-ride light on dash stays on and wiper door stays open with key off. Draining battery.
Replace wiper motor/pump. No difference.
Check wiper door limit shitch, wiper door control solenoid, wiper door override switch, 2 position wiper switch, and they all seem fine. When I unplug the 3 prong plug at wiper motor to wire harness the light goes out.
Not sure if I have a grounding problem or some bare wire somewhere???? Any suggestions.
Thanks,
Durand

Welcome to the site!

Sounds like you will need to chase the wires and find where you have a bare/chaffed one. Have you inspected any of the wiring yet?

Only traced some, and will double check the grounds on A,B & C. I had 2 mechanics over and both could not figure it out. We all think it is a bare wire somewhere. Trying to find it is the problem!!!
I think I'll purchase a AMP gage/short finder from a auto parts store and see if this could help.
Thanks,
Durand

Might be easier just to run new wires than try to trace every single one. Just a thought.

Ps... find new mechanics

The chaffe could even be inside a loom somewhere...

Good luck finding it!

Welcome to the site!

Also, check the grounds... early (hell, all) Corvette's are prone to ground faults... check where the bundle connects to the frame. that's an area prone to corrosion.

I have found that by keeping those external grounds clean, and protected with - of all things - that red battery terminal spray stuff, that I don't get bad things happening on my 92.

Good luck!!!
