Hi, As everyone else does I replaced my stock pump when I did my Opti. I used a pump from Advance. Well less than 8k on the dang thing and it failed. Luckily I saved my original water pump. It was not worn out. Does anyone know where I can get a rebuild kit for it? I would like to keep the original but would like it in new condition before I go through what it takes to get it in there! I don't want another suspect rebuilt! Any suggestions? Thanks.

The problem is finding the parts.

Steve40th had one done and listed the bearing number here in a post.

Seems that the rebuilders on ebay are not selling the kits anymore but you may find something if you search long enough.

You do have to have a press and need to be very careful that things go in straight, especially the seal. The small block kits come with a tool the aligns the seal when you press it in.

I just did by SBC pump.

You want a rebuilt pump? Buy one from stewart/EMP. About $120 and uses the oem aluminum housing. It's probably the cheapest price you find on an aluminum rebuild. Plus they stick a larger impeller in there. The others are cast iron.

I wanted to do it myself as I don't trust most of the rebuilds. Most are remaned in china. Bummer. And Bogus my car is a 95, it should be the same right?

Ok nevermind, I don't think they sell a pump for the LT1 anyways.

Well next week it's going up into the 50s here in Pa. Looks like time to tear it down... Still no plan. My freind is a real mechanic and says he can get me a new rebuilt pump for 150. Oh well it'll get me through the summer...maybe.

I believe that just the actual pump, not the housing.

Well, I tore it down... The only thing that failed was the waterpump to block gaskets. I put her all back together and she runs and cools fine but now I have no heat in the cabin. She is running right at 230 and I have burped and bled her several times, the heater lines are full of coolant but still no heat. Any ideas? Thanks!

Did you have heat in the cabin before?

Sometimes turning the heat on high when burping it will help.

Have you checked to see if the blend door is moving? If both heater hoses are hot, it probably is not. You can pull the piece (resistor?) that is in the evap box under the hood. Take a flashlight, look inside, change it from hot to cold and see if the door moves.

The LT1 has continuous flow thru the core.

Did you burp the system with the bleed screw on the thermostat housing?

Yes Mat, did that all the hose have flow and heat, just nothing in the cabin. I had the climate control consul out when I did the radio rebuild, I might have missed something.

Ok. So the hoses exiting the heater core are hot? That indicates no blockage in the heater core. What I would do next is verify that the blend door is opening. You can do that by removing the blower control module from the top of the heater core box in the engine bay and shine a flashlight in there.

Also, if you did work in there before make sure everything is connected properly.
