The 96 was traded for a 2003 Z06 with 28k miles on it today. I'm really enjoying the road manners of the Z, but will always miss the power of my ol' 96. My wife likes it because we can actually talk and hear each other in it.

And yes.... it is Atomic Orange....

Congrats on the move. Hope they didn't beat you up to badly on the trade. May you have many happy, conversation packed miles through the years ahead. Search for an aftermarket exhaust sytem just in case.

One of my favorite colors! Congrats on the purchase. Like Tommy said, hope you came out on top. Look forward to hearing your driving report.

Thanks everyone. It is a fun car. The deal was fair and I got a good amount for my car, almost what I had it for sale in the classifieds.

Driving report, well, it doesn't have the guts that my 383 LT4 had in it, but it does have very nice, refined power. It also got a tick under 30 mpg, a number that the yellow C4 would never see. The Z will out handle the old car and the ride is a bit stiffer as well. Anyway, below is a list of Plus's and Delta's between the two.

Plus:

I can hear the radio.
Handling
MPG
Refinement

Deltas:

Less power
Not as comfy seats (although they are not bad)
Shifting (sounds strange, but I liked the ZF feel better)
Stiff suspension

Anyway, the C5Z is nice, but I wouldn't say better than a stock C4. They are just night and day different. If I had the garage space, I would have kept the C4 and added the Z. May regret not doing that, but no turning back now!

By the way, I'm going to place an SLP claw with 3 filter for sale tomorrow, after getting some pictures...

My take on the C5 is that the LSx family of engines are too muffled from the factory. Add a cat back and you should feel better about things.

The shifting does not surprise me. Remember, the gearbox is in the rear, which means the shifting is remote. That rod length takes away precision and feel. going aftermarket may help. Check the various bushes on the shifter and rod, too. I have driven a lot of cars and the ZF6 is one of the nicest manuals ever made. Add the Hurst shifter to it and it is about perfect.

The stiff suspension is the price you pay for a Z06.

I also hate the seats.

The engine hasn't even cooled from the drive home and there's already talk of putting a wrench to it.

Marcus is right, I love that color. And on a C5Z, is all the better.

I'm not sold on the color, but there's no arguing with everything else. That is the best bang for the buck available in performance cars today. They are just plain awesome.

Congrats. You won't miss the 383 for long, I had one in my C4 and put an LS6 in it's place

I like the color. Some guys are gonna look at it and know it's a factory color, but the won't figure out why it seems unusual.
